Quick question here... When we talk about spring, we usually only mention how many coils and the diameter.......they all called spring steel I think... Question is: does the spring material matters?

Yes material matters, if it is crappy steel then the performance and life will be short. If it is high quality steel the performance and life will be good. Like you can't just order a steak, it needs to be a good quality steak and processed well, or you'll be chewing shoe leather... still called steak. Good spring steel will remain elastic even after many thousand compression cycles to coil bind, and will last longer than poor quality steel. My 2c.
Yes! I think the same~ and thinking the length, coil numbers and diameter would affect if this spring is fit-able to your gun (you can put it in and use or completely not doable)... But Power high or low, soft or stiff... are base on the material more... And usually we don't get such detail information / spec from the seller, or we couldn't find it out with just a spring in hand, right?

This is the part of the compressor where the treads are buggered up. The socket head bolt will turn about a quarter turn then is locked up solid. Solid enough that I'm sure something will brake if I force it further anyway. Note the sliver of metal.

Appears to me, the thread was not run through all the way, is all. If you peal off that "shard" it should/might be OK.
Mighty strange it did not rise, sooner, if short threading was the culprit. It's almost like that bolt gets larger at that
length, or the actual "rate" of the thread changes.

I'm waiting till I've given CSS a chance to say if they want to exchange it or something before I try to fix it.

It definitely looks screwed. Moving forward, break off the sliver like Daryl said, lube up the threads with some crack (penetrating oil) and back 'er out - give her all you got. It went in, it should come out. You may end up drilling out the hole and re-taping it oversized and replacing the screw, but you can get her going again.

Thumbs up to Canada Shooting Supply. I emailed them the photos of the problem with the spring compressor Sunday, Monday they contacted me by email saying that they would contact the supplier/maker of the compressor, and today I received a shipping notification that a new spring compressor was on it's way to me. Very happy with this level of service!

New spring compressor showed up to day, great service from CSS!

First thing I did was put some lube on the rail clamping bolt of the new compressor then run it all the way in and out to make sure the threads are good, no problem found.

Used the new spring compressor today, worked perfectly. Put a Titan XS #11 spring in the WF600.

At first I was disappointed because the velocity did not seem to have changed. However, as I shot it a bunch to settle it in I realized that the gun was shooting very smoothly compared to before and the cocking stroke was almost pleasurable it was so smooth and quiet. The accuracy seemed better as well.

Chronograph testing resulted in an average velocity of 453.3fps with an extreme spread of 10fps with the majority of the shots within 6 to 7fps. I'm very happy with how it is shooting even with the sub 500fps speed, the trigger is now good, the gun is comfortable to shoot and the addition of a Williams peep sight allows shooting without an optic. I have the Crosman Vantage and Walther Falcon in .22 for if I need to fling .22 lead faster.
