hi,
15 years ago i pimp a 2240 to get a hard puncher, steel breech long probe 1322 barrel. It punch really hard my chrony show me big number. Now i whant to build a mild target shooter to use on basement for casual target shooting. For now i use a p17 but the best i can do on my 6m basement range is to keep all pelets on the black in 10m air rifle target

I already have a stock 2240 , this is the list of what I have in order, if i forget something let me know please:
Crosman long steel breach 177
10.1 " barrel ( the same as 2300t)
Crosman lpm sight ( no williams on stock)
Challenger rear velocity adjuster
Double stage trigger sear
100 bottle of co2

I start with budget for now the cost was close the same of a 2300t but i got adjuster and expect a better trigger, I am wrong ?

Next step will be to make a target custom handle ( I got the oak and all the tools) and may be convert to pcp but not now only if i got a 10 puncher gun.

If you have some advise I will be happy to recive it

I knom a lw barrel and william sight should be better may be with time i will upgrade but for my budget on this project is over price for now

Welcome to the forum.

IMO just buy a 3800T. However if you just want to play with modding the go for it. It'll cost more in the end and likely an inferior product but fun to do.

Maybe keep an eye out for a Daisy 717 or a varient of. Cost effective and accurate enough for local competition.

10m air rifle targets are small. Try with some 10m air pistol targets and keep score. I'm sure there are sized down targets for 6m. Matches are typically 60 shots. Anything in the 500's is good.

The rifle 10 meter target is just a bit under the size of 10m pistol target sized for 6 m. I count the point with the down sized target and get 480 to 520 . Rest my arm on back of a chair .

And the end the only difference between mine and a stock 2300t should be the reducer on the valve and is a easy and cheap fix. For tne weight is thrue with the long breech and adjuster iit will be a bit heavyer.

I want to mod because i have the 100$ 2240 sleeping on shelf. For sure at the end it cost me a bit more but not really more than a 2300t with modification for 2 stage trigger and is a big concern for me .

I built a .177 target 2240 a while ago, and was lucky to find some parts used (steel breech, 1701P 2-stage trigger, LW barrel), just keep your eyes open for deals. I already had the Williams sight and a few other items. I used a smaller-wire hammer spring instead of a power adjuster, and a small transfer port. I think I get between 65 and 75 ''good'' shots @ 435 fps with a 7.9 grains pellet.

Accuracy is excellent, this pistol is much better than I am LOL! At your 6 meters distance it would be pellet on pellet, one-hole groups  . I get 5/16''-3/8'' groups shooting @ 10 m, standing up and shooting the pistol with both hands. The 10'' LW barrel is amazing!

I also have an LPA MIM rear sight on another pistol and it's well worth the money for target shooting, get one if you can!

Yes the Williams has a narrower notch (smaller) than the LPA. Width of notch is 0.082'' on the Williams vs 0.118'' on the LPA. I find the Williams rear sight works very well with the OEM plastic front sight, and the LPA is better with the Crosman Fiber Optics front sight, or a thick (0.100'' or so) front post or blade.

Cheers! :drinkers:
