Pellet head or Skirt are too large. So they act like a plug.

Grains weight, not grams, hitblong.

Why won't it "fire" them - maybe they are too large in diameter for the low powered rifle.

Pellet material too hard or the skirt too thick?

Some times it's not only because of the weight... Although I think pellet heavier than 8g just too much for a sub 500 gun and I will stick to something around 7g...

You can try seating the pellet ' into' the chamber with a stick, a seater or something else instead of just drop it in the breech or push in flush with finger tip...

I've shot 10.5grns from a P17.

I made a Pellet seater from a old wooden dowel, for my HW45. But if it fails to fire seating a pellet by finger, it surely going to jam seating it in. Just put them aside and use them for another gun.

My case on my HW45 was shooting too low, even with a 11.9g Hobby (. 22 cal) AND jammed once or twice too...

Anyway a good tuning and new spring and lots were done just doing good for taming it and made it shoot better although didn't solved the problem...

Finally what I missed was just a deep seating... 8) after using a garden bamboo stick to seat the pellets, it never jammed and have a few extra fps gained... Can't say that improved accuracy tho, but better consistency for sure.

Anyway I agreed if that pellet jammed once, don't use it again on the same gun... If the same pellet jammed more than one gun, don't use that pellet again~ (maybe try a pellet sizer?! :) )

And in my small collection, all my lower power guns benefit from pellet seating... However I don't have a higher power break barrel for me to try as I read ppl found deep seating not working well on those high power guns...

Regarding Crosman pellets, the Pointed one I found is over sized and jammed in some of my guns too... I didn't shoot that heavy Gamo before, have no comment on it....

Weight aside, the rifle should be able to get a 9.6 gr pellet down the muzzle.
So, take it in steps to figure out why those gamo pellets don't go.
Q of the pellets that do fire, at what speed?
How do pellets fit in the breach? I suspect the breach may need "crowning", so to speak.
The Gamo 7.9 should be fine in that rifle so hope you can figure it out.
