Greetings,

I'm new to the forums and I was wondering if I could ask you all for recommendations.

I used to have my PAL and loved plinking.

I'm now wanting to get back in to marksmanship/target shooting/plinking but with air power.

Can anyone recommend a SSP rifle and pistol that are both non PAL but are also entry level competitive grade?

I was thinking of a de tuned hw77 or 97 (if that's actually legal) or The daisy 753s (with that two stage trigger mod... Need it research more on that)

And for a pistol I was thinking Iof the Baikal Izh 46m

Thanks in advance for your time and help.
Happy thanks giving.
Be well

Best regards,
Kevin H.

Welcome to the forum.

For pistol.. yup. You got it. 46m is the standard. Some new ones are arriving in Canada now. If you can find one the daisy 717 or 777 are excellent. Nothing wrong with recently discussed fas (chiappa) 6004.

Rifle nonpal, 953, 853, 753. Any of those. For sure you can use any accurate break barrel rifle like the HW30 or 35 but those are more hold sensitive.

Ofcourse there are a ton of options if you don't want ssp. For example the crosman challenger is hand pump friendly and similar in price of a hw97. May be pal rated though.

Yes! You really knows what to get and the guns on your list are all great ones to fill the purpose~

However, maybe due to the age and the supplying issues recently (more on logistics sides I think), looks those HWs and 46M are hard to find at the moment.

You can put a wants ad in the forum and maybe someone would jump in and make an offer to you...

And we have lots of skilled shooter and caregivers here too. For the Springer detuning, thinking they can do so and send you a detuned model rather than a full power original model... Just shout out and talk~

(the Daisy x53 series are all good for the purpose too! If you see one, No need to think again but just grab it~)

Hello!

Thank you both very much for the welcome and advice.

I found a Avanti/Daisy 753 used for $475.
I'm not sure how well this air rifle holds its value.
Should I go for it?

Oh, okay I will post an ad for the Baikal air pistol.
Edit: May I ask what a used 46M should sell for used?

Are there any good ranges in the Toronto area people like to use?

Thank you both again for your help :)

Happy Thanksgiving.
Be well :)

Best Regards,
Kevin H.

Hi Kevin ~

Well... Honestly IMO, the 753 is a bit over priced (not talking about the seller but the gun itself). If you are not thinking "I must get this into my collection," I would buy a 953 which just need less than half of the price and without the wood and some extras the gun shoots as good as a 753...

I don't remember how much I paid for my 46M which I bought from a good gentleman here, maybe 400$ something. And I doubt I can use the same money to buy the same gun now... At that time, a P17 just costed me 50 bucks which doing 19.99 USD in the States If my memory good...

And the new re-production 46M under AV using a laminated grip looks asking close to a thousand everything included...

Keeping in mind the 753 has a LW barrel.

Hey,

I'm still looking for an air rifle and air pistol.

I think I will get the Baikal Izh 46m still, but I'm wondering about an air rifle.

I guess this might be debatable, but are side levers and under levers more accurate than a break barrel?

And the Daisy ones, the ones with the magazine, does the magazine affect accuracy/consistency?
Maybe it doesn't matter at 10 meters?

Maybe I should look for a used detuned HW.

It's Christmas, and I've been working hard and I want to reward myself lol.

Edit: Also, these are the break barrels I'm looking at.
Anyone have a favourite here?
*I would like the option of using a scope or diopter sight.
**Dlairgun.com seems to be sold out of all their weihrauch rifles.

1. Umarex Browning Gold, Bld/Syn, c/w Scope/Stock Spacers, 490 FPS

2. Norica 56 495 FPS / .22 Air Rifle

3. Hatsan Mod 135

4. I think this one is discontinued and maybe be more than 500fps
SLAVIA CZ MODEL 630 BREAK ACTION

Thanks everyone.
Have a lovely winter holiday season.

(Oh, and I guess I'm excited to shoot air rifles again is because my dad started me with air guns.
And he passed two years ago and it's Christmas time so I'm thinking of him)

Be well
Best Regards,
Kevin H.
