I was shooting my WF600 at about 5 degrees C today and the cocking handle retaining clip that is part of the front sight broke. I did have a spare but it also broke while fitting.

Does anyone know where I could get a metal front sight and handle retaining clip?

I heard about another option that might work well for holding up the underlever. Try your local hobby store for neodymium magnets (earth magnets). Glue a magnetic to the upper side of the lever in a position where it can contact the barrel. I'm thinking the end of the plastic lever handle would be a good place (trigger end of handle). You will have to build up the spot on the lever so the magnetic can contact the barrel. I was thinking that a piece of small conduit would work (half pipe). If the magnetic looks ugly then slide some shrink tube on top.

That is an interesting idea, thank you.

Rare-earth magnets (neodymium-super-magnets) are available in many different sizes. The round ones with a hole in the middle would perhaps work
best on a round barrel, as the hole would make for a larger contact surface.
Google them in your area.
My local Google test just came up with 7 or 8 different stores in town with them.
There are also thinner ones & of different diameters.

I will still need a front sight. Thinking of ordering a replacement and this time heating it before trying to install it. Worst case I might cut the end of the barrel off and just use it with a scope but I want to keep this one with iron sights if possible.

The front sight units are about $8 each so I've ordered three and I'll try heating the next one. If the clip brakes again but the sight is still ok I'll maybe try the magnet thing.

Poured boiling water on the front sight in a bowl and let it soak for 15min. Sprayed some gun lube on the barrel end, wiped it off then pushed the sight on most of the way by hand. Tapped it on the rest of the way with a block of wood and a small hammer, all seems good now. Heating the sight made a big difference.

Thanks for the tip! If/when mine breaks, I'll use your installation technique.
I've put several tins through my WF and the assembly is holding up OK.

Thanks for the tip, headdamage. My WF600 came with the front sight badly tilted to one side. I may try immersing the barrel end and sight in hot water and then either removing it and repositioning it straight or just giving it a twist. Can you tell me, is the end of the barrel splined thereby making it difficult or impossible to twist the sight into the vertical position?

Yes the barrel does have a short splined section under the front sight. The splines are not very deep but they do make rotating the sight difficult. The first time I tried installing a sight (cold) on it I broke in trying to take it back off when it went on at a bad angle. The second time it also ended up canted to the side a bit but I was able to get it back off while it was still warm and reset it.

A heat gun might work but I was worried that I would over heat it hence the hot water.

Yeah, I have a heat gun but your method sounds more forgiving. BTW, I emailed CSS about the sight and they told me that I should buy a new one (and they gave me the price and part # info). Ha ha ha. I have put a Centerpoint 4x32 on it since then so the sight cant is just cosmetic. I may just heat it in water like you recommended, then tap it off and see if I put it back on straight.
Have you done any mods to increase fps on yours?

I thought I was up grading the power but I ended up with a smoother gun that put out a bit less power. I used a Titan XS #11 spring with a top hat, spring guide, and slip washer from Rick on the forum here.

The bloody clip thing broke again, I have one spare front sight/clip left but might try the magnet approach.
