It's a surprise as it showed up in such a sudden... Anyway, I had been prepared for it for a long time and immediately I told the seller 'I want it, NOW'~ [emoji38]

Then, I got this nicely cared CP88 Competition from another collector ~

Heard a lot of ppl comparing about the UX CP88 and M92FS being the two most valuable replica pellet shooters for a long time... I had a M92FS but sold it as I think it's over priced and not as good as what I expected... And, it's just so big for my hand...

But I still want to try a CP88, I don't wish to pay for a new one tho (and looks you are not able to find a new one in the store now...)

Of course, this Competition is a jackpot bonus to me than a regular CP88!!

Shot a co2 capsule this morning when I got it delivered. 4 mags and quite a few dry firing to empty the co2 before putting back into the hardcase. I love it and it will be a keeper in my collection!

Good power~ hitting hard and passing through the bottom of the pop can just like my HW40 does. So I believe the extra length of the barrel brings some extra fps to the pistol and it should be around 400fps~ That's a very good number on a co2 replica pistol indeed!

Good accuracy! Standing with some supoorts on the hands (semi rested?!) It can group as tight as 1/2 inch from 6 yards away. Being honest, there were some fliers... But I think I should blame myself for the fliers as I hadn't shot replicas for quite some time but shooting guns using the light triggers like FWB, Rekord, CD Unit, Izzy 46M, HW40, 45, 75... When shooting the CP88, each time I pulled the trigger, I saw the muzzle flips.... :( need some time and more practice to get back the feeling and how to hold on a replica pistol ... Anyway, hitting a wonder egg shell is piece of cake front the 6 yards distance ~

And most important ~ It looks good and feels good in my hand~ lovely pistol ~

Pictures..... :)ImageImageImageImageImage

We should blame the RCMP didn't find your sister's boyfriend and retrieve the CP88 before the robbery happened ~

The CP88 looks really nice and I think they use better materials in the earlier days when making these airguns?

I think the blame goes to his running shoes. If he didn't have those shoes he wouldn't have left the house to do the robbery. The shoes gave him the ability to do the crime. I wonder what brand he was wearing! Ban them! Bad shoes!

I remember back when the CP88 was first introduced. A lot of guys preferred this model over the many other Umarex replicas that were around.

Congrats for your new toy Ken! Hope you'll have many hours of fun with it. Just find its prefered pellet and it'll give you many years of good service like a well-built German clock!

I have one too and love it :) .Very accurate and not too gas-thirsty, and never had any issues with it. Mine's rather old though, I think it's from the early 2000s, and was imported and distributed by Crosman.

Cheers!

Francois

Some obvious stuff you should be aware of but probably don't realize. The 88 shoots in both single and double action but since it doesn't have blowback, for single action you have to thumb the hammer back before each shot. You will probably want to always shoot single action because thumbing the hammer back indexes the mag so the trigger then just has to release the hammer. It's also easier to hold the gun steady (better accuracy) and also because it has been noted that this gun fires harder in single action than in double action - this is because the distance the hammer ends up falling is greater in single action than in double action. A few years ago I did chrony mine and found it was about 40 fps faster in single action.

Thanks for the great info~ I did it on single action (only :)) but didn't realize you can get so much higher fps with single action! But as you mentioned, I think that makes sense too~

Congrats on your new acquisition! I have one of these and I love mine, it is very accurate, consistent speeds on the chrony, and fits my hand very well. I can confirm what others have said about the single-action shooting, definitely better speeds and accuracy. As for pellets, mine didnt like the RWS R10 wadcutters, or the Crosmans. It shoots beautifully with the Air Arms Field 8.44gr and the lighter ones (7.8gr I think??)... also the JSB Match wadcutters and round heads. Have fun! Fantastic co2 pistol. I also own a Beretta M92 and it is comparable for accuracy and speeds, but I would give the CP88 Competition an ever-so-slightly higher score. My favorite pistol next to my HW45.

Very nice. I had the Umarex H&K P30 which was also a nice gun but I think the CP88 was always more popular. If you want better accuracy then cocking the hammer and firing single action is definitely the way to go, but you can't deny that popping off eight shots one after the other is a lot of fun.
