Hi folks. I posted my cx4 for sale about 6 months ago but when I had a buyer, I wanted to make sure everything was in good working order. I had stored it with the 88g cartridge which was now empty. When I put a new one in it lost all the CO2 instantly where the cartridge screws into the gun. I added some pelgun oil onto the seal in the gun and let it soak for a while the tried again. Same thing. So my assumption is that the seal is shot probable from being compressed during storage with the cartridge in.

I reached out to AGS several times but Travis has not been able to get a replacement in.

Is there another option. ie. a seal I could use from something else. Does anyone know the correct dimensions for this particular seal and what is the material. I don’t think neoprene or bunyl will work since they swell when in contact with pressurized CO2. I assume these are vinyl?

Any advice would be appreciated. My plan is still to sell this gun along with a many others in my collection but I need a durable solution as I don’t want to pass a potential problem on to whoever buys it.

Thanks

Rae

The seal is probably universal to any gun using the 88g co2. I would even contact Umarex directly.

Usually co2 seals are made of polyurethane. Depends on the seal type, you might get away with a 3d printed seal.

OK, just in case you haven't had a good look at it, the CO2 seal is an o-ring that fits around the neck of the 88g cartridge, not like a typical 12g CO2. The one in mine is a sort of orange/brown colour, if that gives a hint to its material. A long time ago I got a part for my CX4 from D&L - you might try them. The Umarex part number for the o-ring is 465.60.06.2 .

You might consider trying to get one from Britain:
https://spares.bagnallandkirkwood.co.uk ... -ref-94-6/
assuming they ship to Canada. I have in the past ordered from Britain and got a quick turn around (pre-pandemic).

I am sure, as suggested above by notec, that all guns that use a 88g CO2 would use the same o-ring. Maybe you should check that out. I think I read somewhere that some paintball guns use them.

In the img of the factory O rings they appear to have an oval cross section.

I refill my 88g capsule so that O ring is never exposed on my Umarex gun. I will remove it today to see if it is the same. If it is, then I will try some standard O rings close in size. I have O ring kits in black red and green. If they leak off it will not cost me anything as opposed to new ones for you at $12. a pop.

My gun and my adapters have 18x3 O rings in them, standard shape, white.
