Received a Wheeler Trigger Weight Scale from Amazon. Readjusted trigger sear engagement in small increments until the trigger weight went from a slghtly heavy 2.5 lbs to 1.25 lbs. Same as my AA S400F. I think my tuning of the Diana Outlaw is now completed.

Overall, my opinion on this platform (Diana Outlaw/Artemis M16) is that it is perfect for HFT use, at 17 fpe, over 80 shots per 200 bar fill. Perfect balance for off-hand shooting. My standing and kneeling scores even improved.

I had one issue with this rifle. The pellet probe broke a pin that pull the hammer back when cocking the rifle. Luckily for me, the previous owner also experienced same problem. He included a spare probe with the gun in the parts bag. I was able to fix my Outlaw in no time.

I am so happy with this rifle, I ordered a second M16 from WesB. Can't wait to give the new gun a try, hopefully arriving in a couple of weeks. At around $500-$600, I don't think there is another gun like it.

Thanks,

TomImageImage

Never shot the Outlaw for a few months, fine tuned the hammer spring today and reshot a complete shot string. I am very happy with the result. Factory reg set to 110 bar. Groups of 5, shot benched at 50 ft.

I think I need to rework my HW100KT FSB now that a cheap Chinese gun is doing better.ImageImage

My M16 tuned to similar speeds seems much more pellet fussy. Best has been the 10.65gr Baracuda and that's around a 3/8" at 25yds.
I wish the rifle was heavier and balanced more towards the muzzle. I might spin up a heavy muzzle cover or similar.

If we had HFT around here I'd be tempted to give it a go.

Man, that is amazing. You post the best targets, I really like seeing them. I like seeing the whole page, there's a honesty about it. I'm sort of a break-barrel target-plinker guy, I shoot the same distance. I aspire to this accuracy. My rifles are pretty good, I might manage a few good targets on a page. I continue to improve tho. Anyway thanks

Steve, trying a bunch of different pellets usually pays off.
This is a 20yard target when testing with the HW97 in .177.
It shoots a variety of pellets fairly well, but REALLY likes the 4.51mm JSB Cometa Match RN pellets.

Daryl is right, I shot at least 10 to 15 different pellets to find the best match to my barrel. That maybe the same pellet with different head diameter.
I stumbled onto the Baracuda FT 4.51 for my Outlaw after my friend YepYep gave me some to try. The rifle started doing one hole immediately. Lucky for me too was that the pellet was priced pretty reasonably when purchased from nikonos on ebay.

Thanks guys for the advice. I've gone through a number of different pellets that are available locally. Maybe not 15.

In .177, my rifles seem to like H+N FTT, and I've shot a good number the H+N Baracuda Light, alongside those FTT. From 4.5mm and 4.51mm tins. I find the heavier 'Cuda Lt like longer distances.

It's interesting, you're liking the Baracuda FT. It appears that they are the same weight as the Baracuda Light, 9.57gn.

I've just started weighing pellets again, I haven't been doing that for a while (I'm expecting delivery of a PelletGage this week) . The Baracuda Light I've just weighed, from two different tins, are very consistent in weight. Maybe the most consitstent pellet I've weighed. All in that 9.6 range, just a very few, like one or two hundredths heavier.

I have experience with pellet sizer in 5.52 and 4.52 sizes. They do make the shot to shot variations smaller, thus better accuracy. However, it is usually at the expense of power. You will lose some fps.

FYI,

Tom

Oh yeah - if sizing(reducing) an oversized pellet down, you increase the bearing (friction) surface.
