Looking for more advice from the collective:
I have a Yong Heng on the way to me, and recently aquired the Xisico compressor from Wes with the big black filter.
The Yong Heng is going to be used to fill a 45 minute SCBA tank, but out of the pile of stuff I ordered (two rifles, two scopes, compressors, etc. etc. etc.) i neglected to get a oil/water separator for the Yong Heng.

I would like to use an effective and safe solution, but don't want to spend more than I need to. Any suggestions? I'd prefer a filter that has a valve allowing bleeding of fluids from the bottom.

Cheers,
Jeff

Hello Jeff,

This subject has come up quite a few times. Please check out this post: topic79327.html?hilit=filter.

The Joe Brancato has all the features you are looking for (own one myself) but it doesn't come cheap. Just be sure to get a unit where the molecular sieve is not in direct contact with the aluminum cylinder.

Cheers!

Yes, I did see that, but the cost of about $250 CAD on the link had me continue to beat the weeds. I do like the idea of the purge valve at the low end of the cylinder - the design makes sense to me. I've read everything I can find on the yong heng facebook groups, as well as Googling. It became apparent I might have better luck asking predominantly Canadian users to keep accessibility (pricing and availability) somewhat consistent with what I could expect.

Thanks for your insights!

Jeff,
You could try something like this and perhaps add a purge valve : https://www.amazon.ca/Separator-Compres ... HJ1ZQ&th=1

The Bancato is the only unit I know of however, that does it right, by pre-pressurizing the molecular sieve with a special valve. As in all things, quality doesn't come cheap. For me it's worth the expense not to have dirty, oily, moisture laden air pumped into my 2K rifles and HPA tanks.

I do however run a Yong Heng compressor which is lower end but does the job. The filter that comes with it however is garbage.

Best of luck and please keep us posted.

For more then a year I had those small black and yellow filter but this summer I had an accident and my Impact Reg got full with mud. When I saw that one I ordered a big dual yellow from ali.

Also removed the YH fan and mounted one exteranlly, this can run to cool down when I shot down the YH

Of course I'd like to avoid filling my gun with "mud"! Can I ask what the coils on the left side of the second picture are? Edit: now I see! those coils are just spring relief for your washing machine or faucet - unrelated to the compressor setup.

I have one of the large black filters but don't use it because I've found that my original little blue filter, and inlet desiccant filter leave no debris exiting the whip hose, and produce <10% RH from a tank, when venting at atmospheric pressure. I measure RH inside a plastic bag, with my humidity meter, while venting air into the bag. IDK, if anyone else is measuring the RH/moisture content of their air, but would like to hear numbers if someone is doing so.

My meter is checked against meteorological instrument so have every confidence.

:)
I don't measure the output, but I would never imagine the amount of moisture is blown out from the big yellow when I draining it during the run.
I am/was re-filling my scba tanks (I have 3) in the basement from somewhere 180 bars to 300 bars, AC was running full blast over the summer, the interior air had about 45-50% humidity when the outdoor was well beyond 80%. Btw Great Lakes here in a two hours radius.
At this moment the heating is on, the humidity is 33% and outside +3C with 75%.
You may have a better luck living far away.

Sorry, another question related to the Yong Heng. Where are you guys finding synthetic AW46 oil? Canadian Tire has 5 gallon pails of the non synthetic stuff, but I'm hoping for something better given the heat produced.

I have a second oil change done, same this RP, it really stinks when warms up, I will replace it first available time. I am filling my tanks in my basement cave and wife complains.
There are other less odour options.
There was some discussion about compressor oils @ AGN not a while back, I just ran through my bookmarked threads could not find it but definitely before the next oil change I will ask them a question about the odour.

Well, I did some searching for the Royal Purple today, made phone calls, etc. No one seems to have it available in Edmonton. $40 on Amazon for a quart seemed like a gouge to me. I kept looking, and found and ordered an alternative: Amsoil Synthetic Compressor Oil - ISO 46, SAE 20. Two quarts shipped to me for about $52 all in seems like a good alternative. I also like the idea that it is clear, so it should be easy to monitor the oil as it changes in use.

I'll post the results when I've had a chance to develop an opintion.

Cheers,
Jeff

Nuvair 455 is food grade, bursts, spills no problem.

I'm looking for something I can find locally (Edmonton, or Amazon) at a reasonable price.

Googling all of the above did not uncover any local suppliers at practical amounts (I don't want a 5 gallon pail for >$800).

Waiting for my Amsoil ISO 46 sythetic compressor oil at $52 for two quarts delivered.
