Looks like Umarex has come out with airgun darts:

Look fairly similar to the ones Air Venturi came out with a few years ago.

But different than the Marksman ones that came out many years ago.

I see they are saying they are compatible with some rifled barreled air pistols. I would have thought they would only be for smooth bore BB guns, as I think the darts can ruin the rifling in the barrel.

Have heard they are not very accurate. There were .177 Darts for sale back in the 50's but I never tried them - too expensive.
I understand they are not very accurate, however due to the shuttlecock shape, fly point first, of course.

As a kid I tried darts. They are not very accurate and over time wear the rifling on rifled barrels. Also, they tended to injure rather than kill small game.

I used darts for basement target shooting during the late sixties in .177 with my Crosman Pumpmaster -as I recall, they weren't particularly accurate, but worked just fine for short range target shooting.

Wouldn't dream of using the for any kind of hunting.

Cheers!

I think that since they are said to be mostly designed for smooth bore CO2 BB pistols, they did not really intend them to be used for hunting, in the same way these airguns were not intended for hunting.

Post was more directing to the plinking & target shooting crowd.

Sort of curious why, after so many years, both Umarex & Air Venturi would come out with darts at this time.

I way I see it, both companies read each others mind. For all I know could even be the same wallet. Christmas is coming, a great time to make some money.

I vaguely remember getting a sample pack of .177 projectiles that had 3 darts included. Can't remember shooting them.. But with those fluffy tails, how do you load them?

Ahh- a tool I would not need, at least the long pointy ended one, that is.
I tried a short pellet seating tool on my HW98 .22, and received a vertical 20 yard group of about 2 1/2" for my extra "work".
Went back to thumb seated and right back to round groups.
