Well, i put a nice hole in my pro chrony dlx last night. I emailed pro chrono to see if they offer pro rated prices for those who already owned on of their products.
In case I dont get a deal on a second unit, any other suggestions for chronographs? i know some like the FX radar, but theres also been an influx of chinese units .... any thoughts on other options?

I'm happy enough with my FX for airgun and a magnetospeed for the PB

Perhaps this will suit the bill for a second unit, but I no longer bother with my Shooting Chrony because the little $30.00 Chinese, clamp onto the muzzle chronograph is so handy. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001 ... 8455%22%7D

My bro welded a small square sheet of 1/2" steel to the front of his Chrony and has yet to hit it.
I've clipped the wires, but never the chronograph itself - twice. Once maybe - many years ago
in the early 80's.

Shooting a chrony, isn't that a rite of passage when reloading for PB?
:axe:

I took my chrony and a friends chrony into their office in Mississauga for repair. I explained they had both been hit with pellets and could they be fixed. The very nice lady at the front desk said no problem just make sure your information is attached to the units and add them to the pile. They had a box there that looked like you could ship a stove in it and it was about half full. They were a little backlogged due to the fact most of the staff was away because it was deer season. So apparently it is quite common to shoot your chronograph- at least once.

Oh yeah I remember - I did shoot a chrony. One of the early ones with the readout on the front. Put a hole right through the middle of the thing, end to end including the 2 layers of steel
of the boxes in the middle, .45 cal hole on the face, about .60 cal. on the rear screen & plate. .458 2" and 550gr. cast bullet.

In case anybody is wondering
- If trying to chrony 400gr 45/70 loads. Double check that the blast didn't move the chrony (Or anchor-down the tripod)... Because it might not survived the next shot.

Always set up 15' from the muzzle - never any problems with any of my guns, many of which are much more powerful muzzle blast than the .45/70. The distance makes the difference.

That was about ago... I usually had them at about 8'-10'... For all intent and purposes, it could have been the wind.

1 shot it was level... and another shot later, I guess it was no longer level and the shot didn't clear

Haven't shot any chrony since
