I fupped up my pump handle, now I'm puzzling out how to fix it. Like building most things from scratch first time round it's a learning experience. The second one would go much quicker and be error free I'm sure.
For the finish I'm leaning to a pure oil finish, but I like the idea of black stain then oil so I'm going to do some sample stains on scraps. I have a bug buster on the way for this build, but I do have a similar 2240 project waiting in the wings.

Well, 8 hrs thinking about it, and 10 mins to fix it - one perfectly functioning pump handle. The issue was with interference with the front barrel band, some detailed shaping solved it. I tried a bunch of stain combinations on a piece of scrap, in the end I went with a dark walnut, not quite black but I think it's beautiful! I'll let it dry good for a few days then finish with 2-3 coats of oil.

The plastic has a wood filler to match, pics didn't show it too good. But, I am thinking how to make shoulder stock - maybe a thumb hole. I need a band saw...almost got on on marketplace but it had sold by the time i got my pm in.

I know what you mean! I tried cutting out my stock with the old scroll saw. Just wasn't having it. I gave up after about an inch.
Lucky I have a friend with a band saw.
Last time I used one of them was in high school. Handy piece of equipment.

Started working on the next version, wood sporter stock. I have more of the same wood i used previously so guaranteed a good colour match.

That’s a sweet little pistol to carbine. What’s the weight with a scope?

Hi, it's an evolving work in progress so its weight varies with each build; sitting there in the pics I'd estimate about 5 lbs - currently the stock has been modified with a comb and it's sporting a 24" barrel and maybe 6 lbs weight. But it's a good question, so I should weigh it all when I'm done. I hauled out my Hatsan AT4410W to fashion the all wood butt stock and it was a heavy beast in comparison to this light bench shooter. Can't call it a carbine now with 24" barrel. I have to clip the hammer spring a bit too for obvious reasons.

Looks like it would be a nice little rabbit gun to pack around the coulee bottoms in the summer time. Can’t wait to watch it keep evolving.

Ok, to round this one up (for now at least), here are the finished pictures of the build, now with 24" barrel and aluminum muzzle brake, shared stock with my 2240 carbine, and sporting a temporary Simons 3-9x40 scope. Weighs in at 5.1 lbs. Eventually it will have a bug buster scope on it so I can see my 10 yd targets in the basement. Everything clipped and tuned now shooting just under 500 with 14.3gr CPHP - perfect!
