I take my old 2240 from early 90' ,with heavy hammer heavy spring for valve and hammer and 2 screw cover plate.

I put on :
Crosman 10.1" barrel
Crosman long steel breech
Lpa mim sight
Challenger rear velocity adjuster

I shoot a first tank to adjust the poi, remove the adjusting screw and dirty my barrel.

The test i count 60 shoots with out poi change, the first five serve to check poi after a do a match of 11 rounds of 5 shoots. The result was on the print screen. I shoot one hand and rested on a sand bag, i test the gun not the shooter.

Result is pretty close the same i get with a 2300 serie valve ( the one with reducer inside). The 2300 valve give me 10 to 20 more shoot but velocity is 40 fps higher with the 1740 configuration. I dont want to cut the spring i take the 2240 apart and will reinstall the .22 10.1" barrel on it, in .177 configuration is to fast to be legit in canada.

You could probably get a spring at Home Depot for about $2. They have a few sizes in the small rotating bins. It's always fun to have spares for tinkering.
