Ive never used a plunge router, but i can see some advantages with the trigger hole. Either plunge router or mortising machine would be handy. Hammer and chisel works ok just go slow.
Chisel was mostly just for squaring off the inlet for the main tube . I used my drill press to drill out the ¼ x3/4 inch trigger slot.

making a bunch of progress today .
trigger slot finished, hole is next

rough shape laid out , Although I did leave a little bit extra here and there just in case.

Drilled the holes for the adjustable cheek hardware (my own) and cut the shape.

Holes drilled on my drill press straight through the stock than 1 inch and a quarter into the cheek pc.

Very rough mock up. Have zebra wood and maple for some laminated accents.

Carefully carved with a forstner bit the most important part. Managed to get the inletting and trigger hole “just right” so the safety will work:) phew

Awsome! I'm stuck just about there - I need to shape the cross section of my stock but finding nothing the right shape for contouring. What do you use for that?

in the past I have used my benchtop belt sander for shaping. For around the grip I use my Dremel the carbide carving bits

This tread brings up a question for me... If an Artemis/Diana rifle breech where fitted to this gun would it then be a rifle and not a pistol (keep to the min 26" overall length rule)? Unlike the 22XX family the serial number and markings are on the breech and not the tube of the Artemis/Diana Chaser/Stormrider family of airguns.

No expert on this, but I have heard it said that in Canada if it started out as a pistol It is always a pistol no matter how you mod it. In the eyes of the law. I can not say this the case, someone who knows the law could confirm this for certain that would be great. :?

This was s true in regards to Pal rated velocities. As long as you stay under 500 fps no problem keeping a pistol in a carbine stock.
However if I was going over 500 ft./s it would be a prohibited weapon

those minimum overall length only apply to Pal rated air guns. under 500 ft./s do whatever you want

Did some more laminated pieces, maple on the butt and zebra everywhere else.
I still can’t decide what shape I want the underside of the fore stock and I don’t like the underside angle of the rear of the stock. I think I might change that but I just can’t decide what I want to do there.Image

It keeps getting better! LOL, it looks like we are copying each other, but in reality we are proceeding quite independently with some similarities. I'll do a build thread when I'm done but here's a sneak peek.
BTW, I tackled the contouring with, in order of operations: router, rotary rasp, belt sander.
