Got the itch to build something new so I bought a mostly bare chaser pistol in .22 from our local dealer. He has a huge stockpile of parts and can build them like Lego in whatever configuration you want.

I’ve already chopped 6 mm off the barrel and re-crowned it.
Also throated the chamber polished the internals , deburred transfer port and any chamber burrs.

I’ll be making a custom carbon fibre and aluminum muzzle brake Air stripper / barrel shroud.
probably like the one I built for my 1322

Finished a new oversize shaft 4.1mm for perfect lockup stainless bolt.

Anyhow I have some Canadian maple and Cocobolo wood for accents I plan on making a stock etc from for it.
Also got my main stock piece from a local uber high end woodwork shop , it is ¼ sawn California Myrtle Most expensive hardwood in north america. I got an off cut that was already machine perfect flat and level, perfect for inletting.
Started to map out the shape , trying to get an idea off the shape I want and inletting needed.

Thought I’d fire some pellets through it to see what it was going to do as stock.
A very Mini Shot String

M/s fps

H&N slug Hp 21gr (.217)
134. 439
137. 449.4
130. 426.5
-------------------------------
14.35gr jsb exact jumbo express
127. 439
136. 446
134. 439
---------------------------------

Both pellets different weights going almost the same speed.
This really surprised me.
and the penetrating power of those H&N HPs slugs was startling, through a soup can like it was not there.
Really surprised that there is no large difference in velocity between the two pelletsImage

Awesome thanks, it looks amazing! I ordered a band saw and will be trying my hand at stock making for the 13xx/22xx. I'm only dabbling but it's so much fun, and these threads inspire me to push further.

Is the stock going to be similar to the one on your 1322? And is it made out of 1 solid piece that needs inletting for the pistol grip or 2 pieces sandwiched? I hope you would make a chronicle of the stockmaking process it would not only inspire it would also save me some time and wood.

Very cool project! Wow that is strange how the 21 gr are matching the 14 gr. Must be because there is so much wasted co2 with the lighter pellet. Too short a barrel to get up to speed. Heavy is definitely the way to go with stock barrel anyway!

Zoom in on the drawing you ‘ll see I ve sketched the sideview on the inlets needed. I’ll need to transfer those lines to the top (edge ) so everything lines up.
Still more stock drawing revisions yo come before any wood chips fly.

Started squaring off the edges in preparation for some butt stock laminating and the inletting.

Ive never used a plunge router, but i can see some advantages with the trigger hole. Either plunge router or mortising machine would be handy. Hammer and chisel works ok just go slow.
