Just got this new in box BSA Meteor from @ 1977.
Comes with a tin of pellets, a peep sight, targets and target holder as well as BSA special oil.
I’m pretty stoked about it! I need to take it all down first and redo all the seals and add fresh lube etc. Might also replace the spring but the one it has should be just fine still.
It is a BSA Super Meteor apparently from the paperwork that came with it. Good fun plinker!

I have other older guns as well with good seals. This one must have sat in the box since new and the breech seal was dried out and just crumbled away. So I replaced the piston o ring and breech seal and gave it some moly as it was bone dry. Should work good now.

Nice looking Bezza Meteor! You don't find those scores very often.

Nice gun. I have a few but the buffer washer is the part you need to watch out for it will crumble and will let the piston head get jammed in the cylinder. 8)

Bingo !

The gun may shoot OK for a few shots, until the buffer disintegrates, and then it will not cock, or be very difficult to cock. Then you have a problem.
All the vintage BSAs should at the very least, have the buffer replaced.

I did replace the buffer. It was also crumbled away. I luckily had one from my Airsporter and it works perfectly. I’ve learned enough over the years to change all parts properly even if they don’t seem necessary. Their purpose will reveal itself soon enough if you don’t lol.
Basically, now the gun is totally working as new and is pretty fun to shoot! Never used a Meteor before now.
