Hello,

I'm looking at a new Weihrauch rifle under 500fps.
Not interested in PCP.
They rangels from the 30 to 97 models in.
D&L has a bunch of new stock but not much of a detailed discription on the different models.
Other than price what's the difference between the 30 series up to the 97 series?
I would prefer. 22

Thank you.

Hi, the 97, 77 and 57 are under leaver rifles a bit heavier than the break barrels, I would say a bit better for target but people use them for hunting too.

I’ve been lucky to own 3 of them 77,97,98, over the years I sold a couple and I kept the 97, I think it’s a great gun, I did change the main spring to bring the gun to 12foot pounds.

These guns are fairly easy to work on if you’re handy, the quality is such that you’ll pass the gun to your kids and maybe grandkids too.

I guess it really boils down to what you want to use the gun for, a 177 will shoot flatter and will have less hitting power and the .22 more hitting power but not as flat.

Also the 97 is a scope only gun, if you get the 97 get some good glass for it, it deserves it.

So maybe if you can tell us what the primary use will be I’m sure the guys will chime in and point you the right way.

Best of luck I’m sure you’ll love whichever you choose.

I’ve had every HW spring gun except the 57 in both PAL and non PAL versions and my choice would be the 50 in 22. To me it’s almost the perfect size of not too big or small. Plus, in its full power version it’s only shooting around 550 FPS in 22 with 14 grain pellets so pretty close.

If the velocity will be the same, 495 FPS and realistically the accuracy will be about the same since you’re not going to be shooting long distance then the size and style of the gun is the only choice.

The 50 was designed to shoot around 500 FPS so your not getting too much gun for the power. The other option to me, if you’re only going to have one gun is a 35E. The E’s can have beautiful stocks and they’re not too much gun for 495 FPS.

Well! Finally our beloved D&L got some stocks in!

As for sub 500 non PAL power, 22cal is the best choice in Canada ~

For a Weihrauch, I highly recommend the HW35E.

https://dlairgun.com/collections/weihra ... s/hw-35-e2

Reasons (to myself), this is a CLASSIC. Long history, nice and special design, beautiful, the only walnut stock, not the best powerful one but more than enough to handle the sub 500fps 22cal power!

And of course, go Google it for more other reasons~ ;)

Below are some pictures of mine.

HW30 is the baby sister in the line up. Good for 177cal and light weight and great for basement /backyard plinker or target shooter or junior shooter. I have one too.

HW50 is a popular entry one, good balance between everything, good all rounder Even If you want to pump it up to PAL rated in the future.

HW97 is a very good (maybe one of the best if not the only best springer) one, a very popular nice springer on the top end list. The next gun on my shopping list too...

Oh.... Almost forget the HW80. 80 is the most powerful workhorse in the HW line up... But as you want a non PAL one, so you can save the HW80 on the list for future needs... Usually ppl won't take a detuned 80, I think.... :)

The other HWs, IMO, they filling the gaps among the above popular ones and ppl find they are good for the purposes by individuals... Like same power, but this is slightly lighter, etc etc.... ImageImage

So what is the difference between the 35 and 35E.
Looks like the same rifle same stock only the 35E is $100 more.

Thanks.

It appears the 35E has a nice walnut stock.

I believe the description between the 35 and 35E on D&L website has some mistake?!

I didn't handle a 35 standard before and mine is a 35E... I think the 35 standard has a 'walnut finish' hardwood stock, not a walnut stock.

Not sure if the barrel length has difference as I remember the 35E has the longest barrel in the 35 lineup...

I believe the only difference is the stock, according to Weihrauch website the barrel length is the same.

In a sub pal there are two choices that I would be looking at. The 50 and the 95. If you plan on leaving it at 500fps I’d chose the the 50. If looking to up the power at a later time I’d go 95. Both are very nice rifles with a slight edge in design with the 95 because of the cocking linkage. I’ve personally owned just about every model with the exception of the 77 and 57 . I have kept the R9 ( 95 ) and an HW30 . Both are pal rated in .177 as that’s the caliber I prefer in a spring gun. I think canadashootingsupply has the rebranded Beeman models available .

Good luck with your purchase. Keep us posted on what you decide .

Very nice. Have you shot the HW30? Which one do you like shooting more?

I suggested the HW30 as an easy loading, accurate rifle that's 1/2 the price of an HW97.
I only own the 2 springers, the 97's. Both are the high power models and both shoot VERY
accurately. The thumbhole .177 makes 1/10"(.100"), 5 shot groups and smaller, from a rest at 20yards.
The .22 isn't quite as accurate but has no trouble making 1/2" groups at the same range.
Groups are measured from outside to outside and subtracting the diameter hole, the pellets make in
THAT target paper, not the pellet size. The hole made is usually smaller than pellet size, usually
around .165" to .170" for a .177" pellet.

Dang that HW97 is accurate! No wonder it's so popular for FT competition. I've been staring at a blue/grey laminated HW97K in .177 cal. It's mesmerizing.
