Interesting project. A lot of work. to patch a stock together like that.

Too much work, it's the last time I do that, I made a lot of sanding yesterday and the kral puncher stock is very pale, I will need to stain it to match the patches I did.
:?

Have you thought about painting it instead of stain? You would be surprised how nice a painted stock looks

Looking better, and notec raises a good solution to the patchwork stock dilemma. I have similar issue because I used laminated boards, painting would cover a lot of sins. I think a black or brown look good, or if you want radical try blue or green.

So, after a night of reflection, I will go with desert tan if I painting it, but I consider try ebony and walnut stain two tone job if it's possible to make it look good. The next time I'll post pics of it, it will start to look like something.

So it is sanded to 150 grit, next step, stain. I'll sand it to 220 with the stain on it.

You might be surprised to learn that a lot of policemen are frightened of black stocks.
I am reminded of an occasion when I friend of mine and I were shooting clay birds on the gravel bank of the 200meter
range. We were shooting prone, with slings. I was shooting my Palma Trophy Match M70 in .30BR and he was shooting
a Varmint Model Remington 700 in .308. His barrel, scope as well as the stock, were black. Mine was walnut, black scope
and stainless barrel. Just as we were finished shooting the clays birds, 2 of the ERT guys walked up to us. Claire's friend
was one of them, the other, a stranger. The stranger pointed at my rifle and said "That one's OK, but that one, pointing at
Claire's model 700, shouldn't be allowed.
Go figure.
