One of the projects I have been tinkering with lately, surprise! Another mk1

Special order, using an fx .25 barrel, (the choked end on this one, it's a tight choke, wonder how that affects velocity?) Utilizing my delrin barrel bushing, cf shroud, left hand cocobolo grips.
Almost wish I was left handed.

Anyway, it's been fun.
Now on to the next... Or I'll pick up something I abandoned... Or...

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with it.
Here's a break down of my fx barrel bushing system. (No I didn't invent anything, but I have yet to see this anywhere else...)

The breech is drilled to .25" which does work out well with the mk1 frame. The barrel liner portion is drilled out to the OD of the liner, which is about .350-.355". I reduce the end of the barrel to get a snug press fit into the delrin at the transfer port end of the bushing. The transfer port is just past that step, so the barrel isn't drilled. Follow?
Then I was getting inconsistent seating depths using a regular bolt probe, so I made a brass flow thru probe for it. The face of the probe rests snug against the leade of the barrel liner, and so does the pellet skirt.

I actually drilled the barrel port in the frame, to .45" just in case I needed orings on the bushing. None were needed. Also bigger is easier to work with. Big ports require more meat.
The other fx mk1 I built does have orings there, I never tested it without. Hm. Drilling that hole in the frame is a task. I did it by hand. Made bushings for the drill bit so it would sit true in the front of the frame.

The first one went loopy because I attempted to free hand step drill it. Trashed one frame. #$@&!! It was one of my sandblasted frames too!

Second attempt, bushed drill bit one shot. It worked better and didn't get all galled up like the first time.

Anyway the shroud got grooves cut into it. Glue grooves. Used a 24 hour epoxy. I know nothing bonds to delrin, but epoxy loves carbon fiber. I don't think it'll come apart. Granted the barrel is compressed in there by the barrel nut... But I use a feeler gauge to torque it down, Just finger tight.

Essentially I feel like I have put a... Supercharged 396 into my 78 chevette, and I'm still running pump gas.

That my friend looks awesome for sure, do you have any results for speed and accuracy? It doesn't matter of course but WOW very nice work.

Great work, I REALLY like that set of grips.
Wrong hand, of course, but still, really nice work.

Thanks guys. No accuracy testing as of yet. I don't shoot pistol good enough, so I need to set up a clamp of some sort.

Velocity has been set to around 485fps max with a 19.9gr pellet.
But since I'm using a choked barrel, I think I'm losing some shot efficiency... This barrel is 3" longer than the other mk1 I put together and it is shooting the same velocities more or less, same valve work and hammer forces.
My plan was to get more shot efficiency from the longer barrel...
Anyway, it's good as is.

Those grips are still being finished  I put another coat on every day or so. I have wet sanded with oil and filled the majority of the grain... They just keep looking nicer as time goes by!
