Just wondering what kind of scales people are using to weigh pellets or other items.

I use a ultra high precision scale at work, but for home use you just need a good druggie scale, something like this Brand: Raniaco
4.7 out of 5 stars 27Reviews
Raniaco Digital Milligram Scale - Professional Gram Scale High Precision 100g x 0.001g Kitchen Scale Jewelry Scale with Counterweight for Powder , Medication , Gem
From Amazon.ca

I just use a cheapo LEE reloading scale that a friend gave me. Good enough for pellets.

I would sure hope so, if it's good enough for gun powder that is.

I use my RCBS scale for everything up to 500gr or so. it would work for weighing drugs as well, if you needed to.

The LEE scale has a top limit of only 100 grains. It's useless for weighing most bullets or weighing brass cases. It won't work for loading powerful bigbore rifles (friend has a .378 Weatherby). I like to weigh pellets by the tens to get an average but can only do that with .177cal because of the 100gr limit. My friend dumped the scale for something better. He was going to toss it out but I took it. The new price on these scales is only $44 at Higginson Powders so I'm not complaining. It was free and it works fine for pellets.

I think I know the scale you're talking about.
Does it have a ball bearing as the bigger weight?
I had something like that in the beginning... Actually before I bought a scale I was using the Lee dipper system. It's only a little bit scary

I have RCBS beam scale, a Redding beam scale, a Hornady digital scale and a Lee Valley pocket scale.
The $19.00 Lee Valley "pocket" electronic scale should be all that is necessary, however it only does 10th's, not 100th's.IIRC

Yup, that's the one. The ball bearing moves easily but it's quite a challenge to get that sliding part to move smoothly. My old RCBS and Lyman scales were much better tools.

I spent a lot of years loading for centerfire... .222, .223, .22PPC, .22-250, .308, 7.62x39, .30/30, .44/40, .38Sp, .357mag, .45ACP and 20 gauge. Also had a couple of .50cal BP Hawken style rifles. Casted many tens of thousands of .30 and .38cal bullets. Back when I started reloading you could buy a pound of IMR for $14. Winchester 748 was expensive at $20. Primers were $18/1000. Prices have gone insane over the last few years. I enjoyed centerfire benchrest, cast bullet shooting and combat handgun but not enough to get back into it again. Airguns, archery and slingshots keep me occupied.

My 50+ year-old Ohaus powder scale still does duty for powder and pellets.

I use a cheap scale from Amazon that does Grains. Works very well but ussually only use it when I dump the wrong pellets in with the tin I am shooting. That little stunt costs me about 2 hours every time that I can never get back!

I've ordered dozens of these ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002 ... 4c4dyopJz7 ) for retail sale without a single defect. I sell and use them regularly for setting turntable / stylus pressure. They are super accurate, battery lasts forever and cheap like borsch.

Lots of these on Amazon.ca as well.

Cheers!

This is what I have been using for many years. Very fast and accurate and measures up to 150+ grains which is certainly all I need for pellets. I can weigh a full tin of 500 pellets in about 45 minutes. I picked it up for $20 delivered back when I bought it, so just over $30 is not a bad price.
