It was around -12 C and the cord was stiff as a board, and planed like a a piece of wood. Hey maybe that's where the term "cord of wood" comes from. LOL>

Well, I figured out how I ground my cord, it was when I put it down on the work bench... ask me how I know... Also I remember a short flash when I turned it on, probably there were a few strands left intact and after a few seconds they melted - switch quit on me again, but stuck in ON position. Cheap crappy tool, I'll get one off Marketplace. I did more grinding and sanding and applied 1 coat of Minwax polymerized fake tung oil:

Duke, your new stock is coming along very nicely. Lots of work to achieve such good result. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

FINISHED! :drinkers: :drinkers: :drinkers:
I'm satisfied with the way it turned out, it's quite comfortable, fits tight and securely with the careful notches I incorporated, and the 2 standard grip screws. The fore grip is held with a U at the back through the trigger guard/valve screw and a brass screw through the barrel band that just touched the air tube when snugged up. Everything feels rock solid.
I'm glad I have now wound up my stock building for the time being... I have 2 new-to-me rifles inbound that are going to be hybridized, but that's the next story.

Thanks to all who inspired and encouraged me along the way! I'll adopt the moniker "Gunthier Duke" 8)

Looks pretty good, considering the laminations.

I have no clue about accuracy of it yet - just shot over the chrony, typical 480 fps. My 13/22/xx Pumper and my other 2240 are doing dimes at 10 yds, I expect this one will too. I want to try my hand at staining wood blue.. maybe I'll do hand grips and fore stock in blue later on as a pistol. This rabbit hole is getting bigger and deeper. But, like I said, 2 more rifles inbound and a project for Mrs Duke (she's a Loomier/Rouetier) - need to make her a stand for a table loom. Just picked up a nice maple bed to make that today.. $free of course. Oh, and I actually have to do work-work which is cutting into my gunthier time badly.

Finished the loom stand, BTW the OEM stand retails for $420+ship+tax. it took me another 2 hr to attend to the details and rough sand it, now over to Mrs Duke for fine sanding and finish (I think it just gets Diamond varathane as a finish, to match OEM). Long story short: If I need to make money, it won't' be in gun stocks. 8) :drinkers:
