Pulled the trigger on a 6” rotary table with tailstock and index plates from Busy Bee. 1st thing I did was take it apart and clean the crappy grease Out, deburred any sharp edges and reassembled it with fresh lube.
The backlash is quite good and it moves very smoothly, overall I’m very happy with it so far. It was a good package deal at $509.+tax, free shipping.

Porting an old muzzle flip I made awhile back was a good 1st project to try it out.

Nice work!
I have ordered from this site in USA. Shipping is much cheaper if you live close to the US-Can border. Ship the parts to a border store and pick them up.
I bought a 5" 3-jaw chinese made chuck that was rated for .003" TIR. After fitting it to a new backing plate, it measured .0015" TIR. I was very pleasantly surprised.
The 5" Polish 3-jaw on my big lathe is a premium chuck with .0015" TIR. I installed the Chinese chuck on my little South Bend 9A. That chuck was $58 (years ago)! The current price is $76.

I bought the exact rotary table from Busy Bee a few years ago.
It adds a whole dimension to the things you can make.
I had been making small steam and air engines, also model cannons .

Exquisite work! Any one of them could be the centrepiece on a table.

Really nice work Indy. I’ve wanted to make a canon also. One that’s a bit more modern looking just to be :D different and is capable of firing air soft bbs. :D
