Hi Rob,

Personally, two weeks apart from HAHA would work better for me.

Thanks,

Tom

May I ask if guests can come to watch to see how matches are held?
And also to see how competitive it is

Hey Rob

I'm a new Field Target shooter and plan on attending in June. Hunter Piston class.

I would be open to attending at least one possibly both matches depending on dates in July and August.

Thanks Gary Cassidy

Welcome to the forum AA. Guests are definitely welcome.
How competitive it is is largely up to you. We use some slightly modified rules to allow everyone to participate.
I participated in my first match about a year ago, and just like you, I asked about coming out to watch. The answer that I received was 'sure you can come to watch, but if you are coming out anyway why not participate? '
We are a friendly bunch and there is always someone able to coach you every step of the way.
I encourage you to send me an email and we can talk more.

Hi Rob,

Is first match still free for new shooters?

Good point Tom!

Yes, new shooters are very welcome and encouraged AND your first match is free at both HAHA and Port Colborne (so you actually get 2 free by going to both clubs).

We have a match at HAHA in Hamilton this coming Saturday (see the previous post in this FT thread), and one Saturday, June 18 in Port Colborne.

Again, if anyone has any questions about what we do or how to get started feel free to post a question in the forum or send an email.

Do NOT think for a moment that you are not experienced enough, or that you are not a good enough shot. When I started FT last year I had not shot at anything more than 20 yards away in years (actually decades!) My objective was just to make contact with some of the targets and if I knocked some down it was a bonus. Then it was to improve my score each match. I came in last in my division several times, but had a ball and learned a ton.

Safety and fun are mandatory, how well you score should be farther down the priority list for new FT shooters.

I hope to see you at the clubs.

Well said Rob 27 the more the better, we welcome all shooters. What I was impressed with the most as a new shooter. How friendly the people were and how much i learn from them. Plus, was nice to see all the cool air rifles. :D
I am planning to go to port and like you not sure on HAHA But think so hope to see you there.

I'm planning on attending this event as well.

Yes, I'd be interested in attending matches in July and August if there is enough interest.

Great to hear Tom.
I look forward to seeing you there.

For anyone else who is coming out and not yet let me know - or for any new folks who have questions or are thinking about it, please send me an email.

Thanks,

Just a reminder for the new shooters, Port Colbourne match is in the woods. Bring your best bug-repellent & rain boots. The mosquitos are very bad there, and the grounds may be very wet.
Just ask me how I know. [emoji12]

Someone new to Port Colborne pointed out that the Google Maps link that I tried to include in my earlier post did not work.
Here are some additional navigation hints:

The address:
Port Colborne & District Conservation Club
3757 Second Concession Rd.
Port Colborne, ON L3K 5V5

I have tried both Google Maps and Bing and both successfully find the Port Colborne and District Conservation Club.

Here is the link to the PCDCC web site : https://www.pcdcc.com/
https://www.pcdcc.com/

Here is what Google Maps tells me the map link should be: https://g.page/PCDCC?share
https://g.page/PCDCC?share

Bing Maps seems to know it as "Port Colborne Conservation" and has the location about 100M East of the actual entrance to the club.

The Lat. and Long. according to Google is:
42.9104093780093, -79.15779227032401

Hopefully some combination of the above will work on whatever navigation device you use.

When I am going to an unfamiliar place, I usually like to check my GPS ahead of time so I am not rushing to try and do it as I am loading the car and trying to get on the road. Please let me know if the info above is helpful or not - I am not confident in my skills at posting links on this forum.

As Tom said, the course at Port Colborne is in the woods. It is beautiful, and is my favorite place to shoot - but like anywhere else in the woods in summer, there will be bugs. I always have a can of spray with me so if anyone forgets just find me on Saturday!

I look forward to seeing everyone there.
Rob

Really looking forward to this one. I have not been back to Port for some time.

Looking to meet all the folks that have started to shoot FT since I left in 2016. Catching up with old friends is always a highlight of attending matches.
