I received my Artemis M16 in 177 cal from WesB a couple of weeks ago. Thought I share my experience with you all.
This was meant to be my spare FT gun next to my Diana Outlaw which was tuned to shoot at 17 fpe very accurately.
So, I started out with the same performance goals of 80+ shots per fill, 17+ fpe.
As my Outlaw is basically the same gun, I started by duplicating the same set up. 110 bar on factory reg, lighten the trigger pull by replacing the trigger return spring, polishing the contact points and adjusted sear engagement.
I encountered two major issues, 1. The power level was over 18 fpe with 110 bar reg seeting on M16, 2. The groups were rather large 2" at 50 ft even with its favorite pellet 10.34gr JSB Heavy.
Power was an easy fix by turning down the reg setting to about 102 bar. Accuracy issue turned out to be mainly caused by the factory barrel. It had very poor crown and also no rifling at the first 1/4" from the muzzle. As always, WesB came to the rescue. He promptly sent me a replacement barrel that solved the problem of poor accuracy.
Here are my results so far, 84 shots on reg from 200 bar fill down to about 100 bar. Avg 17.49 fpe. Groups of Dime size or less at 50ft.
Future plans include:
1. Taking the distance further to 55 yards, 2. Find the favorite pellet for the gun, 3. Try the optional Altaros regulator to see it will improve accuracy/consistency.
Stay tuned.ImageImageImage

Hmm, 'aint that the way things go. I have a 55+ yard backyard, but need a Artemis M16.
Looks like a nice shooter. The Artemis M series are very promising.

How is the noise at that power level?

about the same as my Outlaw, much less than my AA S400F in 177 or HW100KT in 22 cal.
The M16/Outlaw has a shrouded barrel and the shroud does a good job of dampening the sound generated.

Excellent, I have one arriving.

Can you tune it down using just hammer spring tension or do you absolutely have to use the regulator?

One thing I really like about my S410 is the easy power adjustment.

I think to do it properly you need to adjust the factory reg. down from about 135 bar to 100 bar or so. It also takes some time for factory reg to settle. My first groups did not look anything like the final result.[emoji12]

I also did the following on my gun:

1. Cut one coil from hammer spring to allow lighter hammer spring adjustment
2. Drill and tap the breech on the side for a m3 set screw to lock in the hammer spring adjustment once set

[quote="tom_ke888" It also takes some time for factory reg to settle.[/quote]
While i don't have a M16, I found the same thing on my M11 regulator. I was curious as to what exactly has to settle but there is something about it and the initial speed out of the gun is not what it settles at. i find it taking about 50 shots or so to settle - then constant as you could ever expect.

I find myself longing for better consistency still, so much so I bought an Altaros reg for my M16. Lots of ppl also bought Huma reg.

Hi Daryl,

I have an M16, Duke has an M11+55 yard backyard. I was referring Duke's statements. Pretty simple. [emoji12]

Oh, I see. The quote and end quote is a bit messed up on the CAF website. So, the front part was Duke's comments, after the quote my comments on polishing belleville washers followed.
Using Taptalk, I could not see that.
