Variant - so, what is a variant?

Oxford Dictionary: "a form or version of something that differs in some respect from other forms of the same thing or from a standard."

Webster's Dictionary: "A variant is another version of something. varying usually slightly from a usual or standard form"

/b]Cambridge Dictionary: "something that is slightly different from other similar things":
What do these mean? - just about anything THEY want them to mean in regards firearms. Does it shoot a bullet too - cool! it's a variant.

"We chose the words carefully"

&, they lie about what they've written in Parliament about it - yet if called on their lies, the "offending person" is escorted out of the "session".

I'm pissed about possibly loosing my SKS's, but also, if my $75 12 gauge is worth over $2,300 then maybe that will soften the blow.

I have had the same thoughts about some of my guns that could be construed as being included in the list.
The $ value they've proposed, does not pertain to C21, as far as I know.
However, I am also convinced that the $$ values listed are only a "guide" & that while you are "waiting for payment, that "amount" will be reduced by a considerable amount.
It is highly doubtful you will receive $75.00 for that shotgun, maybe $25.00, as the amount you are paid, will happen after you have already "lost possession" and a period
of time has passed for an assessment of the firearm is made. Rest assured, they will not even be giving "market value" as required by the actual Criminal Code.
The laws of this country do not seem to present "any" restrictions to this government.

There is a reason they want them so badly.

Yeah, they will still be safe queens if Alberta refuses to use police resources to enforce it. Feds could try and bring in outside police to make arrests.

Yes, that is a direct possibility.

I guess the question I have is if the Federal Government decide to seize guns on "The List", how will they know where they are?.... Will they assume that you have one (guilty until proven innocent) and pull an "inspection" to find out?.... Then when they are in your house, will they be checking on all the rest of your firearms to see that they are stored "by the book"?.... After all, other than in Quebec, the records of Non-Restricted long guns were supposed to have been destroyed, right?.... They should no longer know if you have what was a "legal" Non-Restricted firearm that is suddenly Prohibited....

We know the RCMP kept the records of the registrations.
When people from HighRiver went to collect their firearms after the flood waters subsided, many were asked - when did you buy those guns, they aren't registered to you?(referring to the list that was supposedly destroyed).

Inspections are limited to the restricted firearms they wish to inspect.
