Just found a forum (Swedish I think) where there are infos on vintage CZ/Slavia airguns (non-HTTPS): http://luftvapen.info/viewtopic.php?f=4 ... 7&p=282484

Also many of you know of this good one: http://www.vzduchovka.cz/

I hope the links will work :| .

I found out my CZ 236 is from before 1949, possibly 1946 or 1947 (serial# 29672). In 1950 they started production of the model 620, which replaced the 236.

Hoping this will be useful to some. Cheers!

Interesting reference. Thanks.

I own a 618 but it says that one has to register in order to follow the link. Since I only want one look, rather than add to the potential junk mail, I thought to ask of you have looked at that group and have the date information?

Here you go, from the Luftvapen.info site:

Old models unknown year:
Slavia APP661 (air pistol)
Slavia ZVP (air pistol)
CZ Model Vz-24
CZ Model Vz-35
CZ Model Vz-36 ( Military training air rifles as far as I know, I think those are the only air rifles made by CZ during the war. )

Year: 1936 - 1939
Model: Z 235, 236 och 237. (5-10000 guns per year/model.)

They seem to have completely stopped production of civil airguns during the WW2.

Year: 1945 - 1949
Model: Z 235, 236, 237, 800, 801, 802 and 47

Year: 1950 - 1958
Model: 802, 803, 603, 608, 612, 615, 618, 620, 622 and 624

Year: 1958 - 1965
Model: 603, 608, 612, 620 and 622

Year: 1965 - 1975
Model: 612, 614, 618, 620, 624, 630, 631 and 632

Year: 1975 - 1988
Model: 630 and 631

I think this pretty much covers the ''vintage period'' of the CZ/Slavia air rifles.

I'm currently rebuilding a 618 and a 622, can't wait to see them functionnal! Wish you a lot of fun with your 618 :) .

Thank-you.

My old 618 was acquired, IIRC, before 1965 because I was (16) by then and had a break barrel .22, plus was too busy with driving and riding motorcycles.

I wonder if their dates might be off by 2 or 3 years?

Mine chronographed (July 23, 2020) Crossman Premier HP 7.9gr pellets 340 fps (291, 366, 364 fps) (2.03 ft/lbs), FWIW.

All parts are original, although the main spring has been shimmed with washers, and trigger sear surface has been built up with welding rod.

I hope to hear about your restoration.

Quite possible, since CZ didn't kept records of their airguns manufacturing dates.

Thanks for these infos Norm!

I just finished rebuilding the 618 and the 622. The 618 is shooting a Crosman 7.9 gr wadcutter @ 345 fps, and the 622 shoots a 11.9 gr Hobby @ 285 fps. My other 618 is shooting remarkably close to her sister, 343 fps with the same 7.9 gr pellet, and my 624 is the ''powerhouse'', shooting a 7.9 gr pellet @ 429 fps (same exact velocity as my 620 :) ).

I re-used the OEM spring in the 622, and made a new nylon parachute seal as the original polymer piston seal (nylon?) was cracked. I replaced the rotten leather breech seal with a custom-made rubber one, and replaced the stock steel spring guide with a delrin one (along with a top hat in the piston). Did a quick polish job on the sear/piston rod and lubed with WS2 paste and all is good!

I had to replace the collapsed spring in the 618, I used a Beeman Biathlon main spring with a custom delrin spring guide and top hat, Also used a rubber breech seal on it, but for this one I made a new piston leather seal. I'll also need to re-check it, as the sear is not very reliable (pretty worn), the rifle has a tendency to auto-fire  . But not a biggie, I can always make new parts 8) :) .

In the picture, left to right:

Slavia 618 - the one I just rebuilt. It has a ''short'' barrel @ 14''. Unknown date of manufacture.

Slavia 618 - ''long'' barrel @ 15 3/4''. This one is from 1967.

Slavia 622 - the one I just rebuilt. Unknown date of manufacture.

Slavia 624 - my ''little one that could''! Unknown date of manufacture.

Slavia 620 - this one is from 1971. Smooooth rifle :) .

CZ 236 - probably from the second half of the 40's, after the WW2. This one's also very smooth, and a gem to shoulder and shoot :D .

Just qurious. Is the 622 a .22 caliber. If so they seem to be very rare. I checked your links hoping to find parts for my newly aquired 631 Lux. Specifically a front sight. Any suggestions?
thanks

Yes the 622 is a .22 caliber, as far as I know the only one made on this (small) platform. And that's true we don't hear much about them. I was lucky to find this one with the bluing and wood in good condition, and after a few repairs it's a very pleasant shooter!

I did a quick search and these sights are not easy to find. I found one place in Czech Republic that has them in stock:

https://www.kentaurguns.com/slavia-630-631-front-sight/

Usually this place is also good for ''exotic'' spare parts: https://www.gunspares.co.uk/products/24503/631/ , but they're currently out of stock.

Cheers!

Thanks for the link, I will check it out. BTW, pretty nice cpllection of Slavias. The 620 being my very first shooting iron, bought at Woolco for 13 dollars about 1970. I have fond memories.
