I agree - it does look pretty good. I'm finished with the finish.

Almost not finished with the finish. The rifle fell off the bench while I was filling it from my scuba tank, landing partially on the floor striking the butt pad and my foot caught it
the upper part. Wheh!  The side of the barrel rubbed the edge of the bench on the way past and marked it a bit. That might come off with some solvent - I'll
find out later. The POI moved about 1/4" to the left after that "event". No damage to the stock. I'm looking forward to the barrel bands (2) I ordered form forum member "ineedpal".
They should be in the mail tomorrow.
Oh yeah- the target(s). Had I taken my time, the groups would have been better. I was shooting as fast as I could reload and get the dot inside the 10 ring, like they do at
the big shoot in the States. (well, not THAT fast).
Except for after the fall, I saw no group wandering. The change in groups centers is due to my hole chasing. If my first shot is "off", I repeat that hold and try to make a good group.
Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't work. This is usually due to heart beat - at which point the gun fires, or just a poor hold for the first shot. For some reason, the gun seemed
to be moving all the time - might have been due to the high Immersive scope-induced poor cheek weld, or just me.
Lucked out, a flannelette patch with WD40 took the marks off the shroud.
I have not removed the barrel and reinstalled it with the correct tension on all the screws, and locking nut.
Next shooting is Sunday - 10 meters, so likely will not participate in that. Next Wed. will shoot some more at 50'.
These targets were not shot with these pellets.

Ouch for the mishalf! Good thing is your accuracy is still much better than mine at the start with no POI shift. Great job!
It make me wonder if should try to buy one of those sleeve for the shroud base. If that makes your barrel more rigid.

Yeah - lucked out there, for sure. The tin of pellets I pictured, are Rifle Thunder Pellets one of the lads got from D&L.
He had ordered all .177's and these 33.95gr. bullet-like pellets were in his shipment, so he gave them to me. They did
not shoot well at the low port setting (low vel) I had the gun set at. They also impacted to the right and higher than
the FX 25.4gr. RN's I was shooting. I found it interesting they shot higher, but that could easily have been due to the
free-floating barrel's whip (harmonics) with that pellet.
It is quite possible these might shoot exceptionally well on full power & not have the same instability problem that
waisted pellets seem to have at higher speeds. Actually, if they ran 850fps, that's 56fpe or thereabouts.

Woah, Binderdundat! Glad and lucky you still have good reaction and saved the stock - it has turned out nice and I agree an improvement over the original. I'll have to try your fingering technique, admittedly produces great results. :drinkers:

Tks Duke - the coats are VERY thin & rubbed out well. There were a few spots on both sides that just seemed to keep soaking up the finish, but are now "covered".
6 actual coats in total.
Just 1/2 my index finger into the oil, for each application to each area. The cheek-piece side of the stock needed 2 such dips of the finger to cover each 1/2 of the stock.

1-2 days between coats, depending on how it feels.

The forend & belly needed 1 dip, each side. About 3 'touches' to the stock with each dip, over bout a 5" distance on the stock. Hope that explains it well enough.
such as:

dip - then touch -----------------touch-------------------touch so there are 3 sploches of oil on the stock - then rub that in all over that side, grip top of comb and behind
comb & underside too - twice per side for the rear section. There is more wood to cover, than the forend. With the forend, only 1 dip and 3 touches per side.
I've been finishing stocks that way since the 70's.
Some guys slather it on with a cotton patch, then wait 15 minutes and wipe all over that will come off with another cloth or paper towels.
Then let that dry.
Couple days later, repeat.
Couple days later, repeat.

That is similar to what a lot of guys do with most ALL stock finishes, True Oil, Lynspeed, BLOl, Permalyn, Circa 1850 Danish Oil, 1850 Tung Oil, etc, etc.

With one major difference, once I dry the coatings with a clean cloth, I can touch it right away without leaving fingerprints.

Mine don't leave finger prints either after the oil is rubbed in. However, next time I am in Home Hardware, I'll see if they nave the antique oil finish.
They see all of the Minwax products as I have quite a few of the small cans of Minwax stain/fillers.

I got mine from Canadian Tire. Price was cheaper than Amazon as well.

Tks Tom. CT is way out West end of town, but good to know they might have it. I'll check Home Hwd. first.
Gotta make a trip out that way (towards CT) to see if they have more casting rods in at Corlanes.

I decided to put a proper scope on the Dreamline, an Optisan 6-24.
I put the Immersive 10x40 on the Condor.
