This was also in the report. I feel THEY will make a new amendment at some point, to include all firearms made previously to C21.

:VERY IMPORTANT:

According to Public Safety Canada, this technical definition would cover firearms designed and manufactured after Bill C-21 comes into force; it would not affect the classification of existing firearms in the Canadian market.

This made gun control advocates very angry, and they even held a press conference of their own to express their anger at these new amendments and measures. They went as far as declaring they would no tparticipate in the CFAC committee, if called upon by the Liberals, calling it useless, and citing their participation in a previous CFAC that led to nothing."

EXACTLY!!!! What a bunch of ()**(^(*)(&(*( and lying *(^^^)(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are coming for everything, including my model airplanes!

Cannot trust or believe anything they say on C-21. I've watched my fair share of sessions in both question period and the council meetings. Perhaps in question period the mp's can't say it but I will, they are liars. I take comfort in that no government remains in power forever and when the switch happens I will celebrate with many new purchases.

Trudeau is simply taking the power handed to him on a silver platter by Harper. It was Mulroney in 92 signing UN Agenda21 and Harper in 2015 signing Agenda2030 UN sustainable development goals.
Small arms disarmament is a UN SDG along with everything we've seen over the past three years.
Sadly the CPC are globalist sellouts sitting back letting Trudeau and the liberals do the dirty work, while the party in blue attempt to play the saviors.
Carbon tax, lockdowns, restrictions, digital ID/currency, 2035 EV mandate, mass immigration, housing crisis mass government spending/debt, civilian disarmament, experimental untested vaccine/travel mandates, trans/gay grooming in educational system are all pre-planned policies of the 17 goals of UN sustainable development.
Polievre and the CPC are only going to bat in defense of the last group of gun owners under attack, non-restricted hunting rifle and hunting shotgun owners. Hunters and farmers are all that's left to defend and make the CPC look like the heros to save gun ownership...
With or without c-21,restricted gun bans and the OIC are still alive and well in Ottawa.
Conservative MP's are being muzzled by their own party backroom for speaking out or defending rights freedoms and democracy in Canada..

I watched Mendicino's announcement, so much double-speak and clearly political targeting of the opposing side, of course that was front and center.

Here's the thing, an AR-15 is no more deadly than any other center-fire semi-auto, it just looks scary and is a buzzword. Clearly designed to make it seem like we want criminals with AR-15's roaming the streets.

I also don't see anything stopping them from ending here at their new definition, they said themselves that they want to setup a committee for review of firearm classifications.

Pretty much sums it up.

I think that shooters handed the power to the Liberal/NDP coalition of stupidity.
Given the voter turnout and the numbers who voted for the idiots, I am guessing that a huge number of shooters did not bother voting.

I think what screws us also as gun owners, is our association with the conservative party.

Many gun owners hold their nose and vote conservative because they don't like it, but have no other choice, so just imagine non-gun owners, especially in Canada?

We may be Canadians, but we are heavily influenced by American media and even American news nonetheless, and in that vain gun owners are often associated with crazy religious fundamentalist wingnuts and other such negative stereotypes, which are not true for many in Canada, from what I have found, but none the less many other Canadians are still influenced by.

Sometimes the way politics works and the "two sides" really screws people who do not fit into the binary.

This is also why I supported the more moderate candidates for the conservative leadership over the likes of Derek Sloan, because if our goal is to preserve our firearms and legally purchased property, we need a candidate cable of winning a national election, not someone that the majority of the country would reject. It doesn't matter how good of a platform you may think they have, if they are incapable of winning an election.

Just because I feel that I should not have my legally purchased firearms confiscated and banned for someone else's actions and not my own,

Discussing what is or has been proposed so we are in the know appears to be just fine. Talking party politics is not, as I see the rules.

The Gun Blog on Mendicino's statement,

https://thegunblog.ca/2023/05/05/libera ... cino-says/

TheGunBlog.ca — Canada’s governing Liberal Party will confiscate more guns from government-licensed firearm owners by “order in council” (OIC), Minister Marco Mendicino said May 01 in comments that many people missed.
OIC Possible This Summer

The Liberals may unleash their new attacks as early as this summer. They’re creating a confiscation committee with an August 31 deadline to say which firearms to prohibit.

You could be targeted if you are among the 2.3 million men and women with a federal firearm Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) and legally own:

Any firearm the Liberals choose to label “Prohibited”
Any rifle or shotgun that is centre-fire, semi-auto, and can take detachable ammo mags
Possibly any handgun

OIC to Prohibit Existing Guns, Bill C-21 to Prohibit Future Guns

The order in council — an arbitrary and authoritarian cabinet decree — will prohibit and eventually confiscate existing guns.

Mendicino announced the expanded crackdown at a briefing on proposed amendments to Bill C-21 that aim to prohibit rifles and shotguns designed in the future.
