Hi everyone well i pumped up the caydes 22 cal this an fired about
60 full power shots pumping back up to 3200 psi on gun guage and
3000 on hill mk5 pro pump then fires a couple shots of jsb cometa
15.89 grain exacts every two shots i turned the hammer spring in 1/4
turn from flush with breech block.Best velocity was right around 899 fps
average and this was with the transfer port on max and a 3000psi fill.
this was achieved with the hammer spring turned in with a preload of
6+1/2 turns. When i worked up from full ccw or flush with reciever full
out the shots were about 50 fps slow and when i got in to 12 full cw turns
of preload slow again about 50 fps.To full spring bind is 14 turns from ccw
or fluch and i had to back hs out 2 full turns from full spring bind two full
turns befour gun would cock.Best velocity for all pellets at 6+1/2 turns in
of preload for average vel on 15.89 gr jsbs of 899 -901 fps and with the
jsb exact jumbo match 18.13 grain i averaged 861-865 fps and with the
h+n barracuda hunter extremes in 18.52 grain averaged 835 fps. Will
the H+n FTT in 14.66 grain i was running about 920 fps and with cros
14.3 gr hps i was running about average of 946 fps.The hayden absolutly
hates the h+n barracuda hunter extremes in 18.52 grain they have a lot
flyers and best group at 20 ydss is about 3 inches when the jsb hades and
cometas and also now the jsb exact jumbo match 18.13 grain fly almost
though the same hole at 20 yards.Guess i could put in a longer valve and port
the internals a little but i think this is enough power anyways. I like 880-910
fps for best accuracy and if you cant hit em you cant kill em so all the power wont
help yopu anyways.Next i will run a shot string and targets at 50 yards to se what
can realy do.Pumped back up to 3000 psi after every four shots

Well I found out why I’m getting about 50 fps slower than most people with
My Cayden 22 it now is for sure the gun guage is out 300 psi to the high side.
When my pump reads 3000 the gun shows 3300 psi so to get a proper shot
Curve they say and crossman reps say the gun can take it just fine without any
Problems is to fill the gun to 3200-3300psi as long as you feel safe doeing this
Then your first 8 shots will be low befour you reach the plateau or knee in the string
you should get a few more clips at very close velocity then the shots will start to
Fall back down. This is a true shot curve.Being the gun is over sprung this is supposed to
Work well and not be hard on the gun at all as they are prodded to take way higher pressures
Anyways.when I got my Cayden it was at 1.5 full turns in preload for average velocity with
Jsb Cometa exact 15.89 grain pellets of about 876 fps when I first shot it at 2700 psi I could get about 25
Shots within about 5 fps diff.Anyone have any thoughts on this would be appreciated thanks

Keep playing with it and you will learn it's sweet spot. Keeping track (written) of every change made is important
to keep from repeating the same tests later.
What you are looking for is a decently long shot string with great to great accuracy. I would suggest that 25 consecutive shots
only 5fps difference is excellent. Record the pressure spread on those. If you find your rifle shoots best from 1500psi to 2,500psi,
then you know you don't have to fill it past 2,500fps - or whatever the "best' range of pressures happens to be.

More testing this am with cayden its not like the akela at all.
filled to 3100 psi on hill mk5 pro pump cheaked with wika guage
and the hill pump bang on .No need to cut coils from this cayden
because to get my best fbds and velocity i need to preload the
hammer spring 6+1/2 turns cw from full ccw. This will give me
an average of 900 fps with jsb 15.89 gr domes its the best i can
get out of it and the hades are the same. The jsb 18.13 jumbo
heavy exacts average about 885-890 fps if i fill to 3000 psi its
actualy at 3300 on gun guage so even if i fill gun to 3100 on
wika and hill guages the gun gun guage will read 3400 psi.
no sign of valve lock at all and best performance is from
3100psi to 2200 psi will do some target shooting at 30 yds
friday with chrony set up..Cant figure out why people are
cutting coils off their akelas as the cayden needs preload of
about 50% for best performance at least mine does .

The highest FPS is not necessarily the "sweet spot" in efficiency, the relationship between # of shots within the sweet spot.
The higher the hammer blow the more air is presented to the pellet. Efficiency suffers as I understand it, when the rifle is
emitting more air than the transfer port can handle, thus the excess air is wasted, following the pellet out the bore, rather
than pushing it.
Finding the setting that gives the highest vel. merely shows a balance between port size and available air.(I think) The setting
for the best efficiency might need a different hammer setting. IF the highest speed possible is the goal, then perhaps you have
found what you wanted.

Thanks Daryl you wouldn’t belive what I found out I did some investigating and
Removed the spring hammer piston etc and you guessed all were DRY as a bone.
Nota bit of lube on them even could see some spots on spring where it was rubbing
On the inside. So I put some f-10 lube inside just a light coat will try tomorrow and see
If this makes any differance . In velocity at a lower preload.Nextwill look at the transfer
Port as well to make sure it’s functioning properly. When I got my weihrauch hw80 it was
Filled with so much grease it’s a wander it could shoot at all can’t wait to test this now

The Cayden is a fine looking unit with great reviews.
