What a great project this would be? This skill set I have but, the time involved would be great (24 to 30 hours). The only way I would perform this is to make it custom to me only and the original stock would have to have fallen out a truck window going 140kl down a gravel road....

Nicely done! :drinkers:

A lot of work for a Savage .22. Don't like his pistol grip design, but the rest of the lines are OK. His cheek piece is a little large, smaller would have looked better.
The use of ebony was good. I've stocked a few rifles in the last 50 years starting with blanks. I switched to pre-carves. Anything I want to stock, has a pre-carve in
the "pattern" I want. A lot of the wood he beavered off that stock blank could have been cut off with a band-saw. Both Stanley sureforms he used, I have and have used in
stocking rifles - have a couple others, too - different shapes and sizes. That round one takes off a lot of wood, in a hurry. They cut skin well, too.
Am I being too critical?

Not too critical at all. I'm sure he stopped several times to mop up the sweat? hahaha

Those sureforms rasps are awesome and like you said, if not careful one will start to leak very quickly.

This vids are great for those who want to make an adjustable cheek or but stock. But to copy a production stock, I don't see the point unless they are no longer available to order. JMHO!

I've been using Boyds Stocks, formerly called Boyd Boys, since the 80's. I think they are
also selling selling completed stocks. when I was buying them, they were 90% done.
Yes- CNC'd stocks.
