Here's another - in Tennissee. $150.00 .22 LR MARLIN 89C

I would have suggested perhaps here in BC, likely in the $250.00 range, maybe a little more if in really good shape and with a couple magazines.

Can you post some pictures?

The marlin are good shooter, all Marlins I have seen the rounds are stacked into a tube under the barrel.

Daryl,

Have you ever seen the 22 BB cap? I have used all the rest but was unaware of this BB cap.

Yes-I bought those back in the 70's in South Western Ontario - probably from Don Points from the hardware store.
I can tell you they were back-yard friendly - as long as the muzzle is inside the house. They sounded like a fairly loud hang clap,
that's all. They also worked a LOT better on squirrels than a sub500fps air rifle, that's for sure. My Dad's model 60 would not feed them
so we single loaded them.
The more recent BB caps have a round ball, which doesn't shoot as well & actually falls out of them in the tin.
I am surprised they did not include the .22 Long in this picture, as it has the same case as the LR, but the .22 Short's 29gr. bullet & at .22 Short vel.

Daryl,

Good info, thanks.

My Granny left me a tiny rimfire starter pistol she used to scare cats out of the yard. It fits in the palm of my hand. I have a tin of rounds but have never fired it.

Then it shoots blanks, not BB caps.

100%, it is nothing more than a starter pistol.

I'd sure like to see pics of the Marlin.

These old Marlins are something else.
The American walnut on them, while sort of plain looking, still shows a bit of grain.

There is a group of collectors on the Marlin web site.

http://marlinowners.com

Look for the collectors forum.
The guys there are pretty helpful, and can help with finding manufacture dates.
I have an old 39-A here with one of the last pre-micro groove bbls on it, and it is extremely accurate.

I own two .22 Marlin bolt action tube fed rifles with factory peep sights. Both have ballard style rifling (prior to micro-groove rifling).
Both are extremely accurate with pretty much any ammo you stuff in them. Too bad I can't see the open sights any more.
Both are going up for sale at our club's gun show next month. I expect they will both be sold to another exhibiter before the show even starts.

Many .22 RF's do not have serial's, especially the Cooey brand.
RF's in my flock. The top 2 are model 60 Cooeys. The second one down is the rifle my Dad bought when stationed in Regina during WW11.
The walnut stock was quite nice, so I refinished it - about 40 years ago.
The bottom 2, a Marlin and a re-barreled BSA Martini Cadet, both in .17HMR.
I have one more that isn't in this picture, a BRNO SA made in the 1950's. It's quite nice.

I am starting to feel that way, too. I hear you.
