I have a .177 cal Crosman Blaze Nitro, and I am trying to remove the 177 barrel to replace it with a new .22 cal barrel I recently bought. I don't seem to be able to remove the pivot lever pin ((B-12-00-1B). I have tried punching out and when that did not budge it I tried pressing it out in a large vice. Still no luck.
Before I destroy the thing, I thought I had better check with others as to whether or not I should be trying something else. One end of the pin appear that it might be swadged into place, and require grinding off, but I don't know for sure. Can someone please provide some advice?
Thanks in advance! JD

Find a detailed parts diagram before you do it so you can see how it is assembled. I will never do that without diagram. Most of them you can get it from crosman.com website--also you need to make sure the barrel has to be under same platform--otherwise you may have to cut it for altering.

Thanks for that. I have a parts diagram for every gun prior to disassembly. In this case it shows only that there is a pin there. In this case it seems overly stubborn, and I am wondering if it is swaged in or heat press fit, or if I am just not putting enough oooomph into it.

Yes, typically that pin is peened (or swaged) at the ends like a rivet. Take a dremel and carefully grind it around and then punch it out. If you do it right, you should be able to save a sliver still protruding out of the hole and can re-peen it back in after swapping the barrel.

Thanks! That is exactly the information I was looking for. I'll give it a try tomorrow and repost.

Reporting back on this, I dremelled the outer perimeter of one side of the beveled pin and successfully drove it out. Installed the new barrel and the old pin. There was adequate remaining material on the dremelled end, so I was able to peen it over again. Many thanks for providing the solution of my probem. I now have a Crosman Blaze XT in .22! It may be slower, but it will have higher fpe and be better for ratting.

Good job! post some picks of your new ratter. I have converted many a .177 to .22 with barrel swap.
