Well, changed scopes out with the FX, and about time to sight in and test the "new" setup.
Shooting sitting, resting the rifle on the back of a chair in front of me. With a fill of 3,000psi, I sighted in with 6 pellets, then 4 on the top left target & 5 on every other one.
At 24 groups of 5 on the rest of the target, reduced the gauge to just barely below the 2,000psi line, so I called it 1,900psi. I figured the rifle 'good' for another 50 shots before
accuracy & POI drops - at about 1,400psi.from previous experience with this rifle. The Power Wheel (hammer) setting for this testing, was 1 and 10. I used H&N Barracuda Hunter Extremes
as well as JSB Hades pellets. The H&N's "FELT" more forgiving of my shaking. The first 2 rows down were H&N's while the next 2 rows and bottom row 2 right hand targets are Hades.
The 3rd and 4th lines as well as 1st three targets bottom row are Hades.
The vertical string in the middle are when sighting in the scope.
The top target I just shot - 31.02gr. Barracuda from 3,000psi down to 2,500psi - 55 shots. Same Power Wheel (hammer) Setting.

Just redid the test only 500psi used - 55 shots on the Condor.
I'm actually shocked. I've never shot the rifle with the hammer setting so low and every thing I have read says
the hammer spring settings at the bottom are still over 800fps. If this holds out- WOW!
I just finished off that last target with 22 groups of 5, from 3,000psi down to 2,000psi = 110shots, so it seems consistent.

The real test will be at longer range to see if the POI holds up over such a long string of shots.

More testing. Power Wheel at 4rifle - 10wheel, so 4 - 10. This is the setting that White Wolf recommended back when I bought the rifle.
no velocities, however from a 3,000psi fill down to 2,000psi, I still got 110shots.
Top 2 rows were with the H&N Barr. Hunter Extreme HP. Bottom 3 rows were with the Barracuda Hunter HP. There was a 1/4" to .3" difference(approx. in point of impact between the 2.
As always, if I pull the first shot off a bit, I chased the hole. Not being perfectly steady, always moving somewhat, the groups are larger than they should be. I did find the Barr. Hunter
pellets at 27.47gr. to be slightly more accurate than the Barracuda Hunter Extremes at 28.24gr.

More- PW settings 4 - 10 and 7 - 10.
According to one on-line tuning video I watched, the setting of 7-0 should produce between 1,000fps and 1,020fps.
The first couple shots will in high 990's.
I got 105 shots between 3,000psi and 2,000psi at 4-10 setting and 90 shots at the higher 7-10 setting. Slight differences
in POI with different pellets. The lighter 24.39gr. JSB's hit a bit right of centre.

How does the Condor compare to your FX Dreamline?

The Condor is a little more powerful, I am sure. It's been a long time since I have targeted the Condor at 25 or more yards, but I am sure, with the FX will prove to be more accurate
& have an accuracy string longer. I'll have to "paper" them both in the Spring - likely March or April. I'm not sure at this point which one I will take to the lake.

I was wondering if you got the chance to really test your Dreamline yet.....I've been looking for comparisons and can't find much. Both are in my radar!
From my research the Dreamline appears more accurate? What I like is the magazine and the classic style.
What I like about the Condor is the power, large air volume, lower price tag but, not fussy about the single shot or looks.
I'm still not sure if the Condor is regulated or not? I know its real easy to adjust the power level from 1 to 10.

Please keep me up to date on your findings, thanks. :drinkers:

Yes, I will, as time & temperature allows. It's too cold for this old bloke to go to the range. I've shot both rifles at 50' and 25 years with the Condor. I did shoot some groups with it
at 50yards, years ago & with the best pellets, it was shooting in the 3/4" range. I'm sure it will do better that that, as-should the Dreamline. I also prefer the walnut stocked Dreamline
for appearance and feel. I'm thinking the Condor might also be better with the slugs as well. We'll see. I also like the 16 round mag. on the Dreamline.
With some minor dexterity of the fingers, it's surprising how quickly the Condor can be fired. A side lever like on the Texan would be nice - on the condor.
There is a regulator that can be put on them, apparently.

My first time out with the Condor this spring, showed 500+fps low of what I thought it would be. Indoors it was loud, but at the outside range, mouse-fart
and just around 675fps. I expected, with that hammer wheel setting of 8 to be getting almost 1,150fps.
After re-adjusting the top-hat fit at home, my average at a low setting of 4 on the hammer and shooting 1/2" at 55 meters, I'm averaging 1,076fps with 25.39gr. JSB's.
At the original wheel setting of 8 (out of 13), it was running 1,138fps & cracking pretty good, so I cranked it down and re-tested.
Here's the shot string from that testing, at the "suggestion" from Lauchlin.
The power wheel has 2 indicators. First there is a horizontal scale from 0 to 13. Then, the rotating wheel which moves the stop against the spring, causing more preload, has 1 to 16 marks.
At first, I had the power wheel set at 8 on the horizontal and 10 on the wheel & 3,000psi in the tank.

I fired only 2 shots due to the speed and noise - quite a crack.
25.39gr. JSB Exacts.

re-filled the tank to 3,000psi.
I cranked the wheel down to 7 and 10.

1,090
1,085

I then cranked the wheel to 4 and 10 & refilled the tank to 3,100psi on the gun's gauge, 3,000psi on my carbon tank.
28 shots with 25.39gr. JSB's While chronographing these, I also targeted them at 50meters. I stopped at 2,000psi on the gun's tank.
The first 3 shots were low vel. of 968 and 983 then 1,002. After those 3 shots, the rifle's gauge read 3,000psi. The next 28 shots.

1st time I did this string, I got 1,076 and 65.31FPE.
Oh well - pretty good string and setting for a non-regulated rifle.

I also tested 33.95gr. JSB Jumbos, but accuracy wise they were disappointing, shooting 1 1/2" at 50 meters.

Wow, that's some nice looking shot targets Daryl.

Seeing multiple one hole groups together is wonderful sight. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Chris

Nicely done Daryl, I too wouldn't mind seeing a shoot out between your Condor and Dreamline. Both are nice guns, I tend to be biased as I have a Dreamline too.[emoji6]
