Howdy, it turns out that my teenage daughter is better at shooting a rifle than I ever was. I'd like to get her involved in ISSF 10m air rifle shooting. Where to begin? Are there any clubs in Ontario?

thanks in advance,

Rob

I am in the same situation, except I'm in Nova Scotia. My girlfriends daughter is in Cadets. Both her and my girlfriend think they would be interested in trying 10m for fun or competition, but I can't find much on it anywhere. I have lots of firearms, most of them are not as accurate as a real good air gun, and at $4-5 per shot they are fairly expensive to shoot. Even rimfire is getting up there in price now, when you can even find ammo.

She's 15 and at the moment I'd like to involve her purely in the sport of shooting.

Three shooting clubs in Barrie might be worth checking out.

Barrie Gun Club looks the most promising as they have a junior program.

If shooting is the goal Cadets is not the place (I say that as a proud former Cadet).

I wish it was this easy, I've been on the waitlist to join Barrie GC for 4 years now :(

Over the years, I have found that women/females are easier to teach to shoot well, than are men. Boys, will listen just as
well as the females & do as instructed.
Many men already know it all and thus are not receptive to instruction, or appear to listen, but do it their own way, anyway.
The females will be seen, at rendezvous, to beat the men with the men's rifles as well, in buck and doe shoots. It's fun to see.
It might just be, due to the "gender thing", that women are more competitive, especially when shooting against males.
