Only one old tin measured 4.52 but the weight is way over at 8.64gr.

Tom, how many pellets did you measure for each tin. I believe H is head and S is skirt size, correct?

I just sampled one or two per tin. Not very scientific.

How do you measure these tiny differences?
My skills are more rough carpentry vs. precision engineering and trying to measure the difference between 4.49mm and 4.52 sounds like an exercise in frustration.
Thanks,
Rob27
I just used my digital caliper measured carefully.

Thanks Todd, I think the shot to shot variations is caused mostly by me shaking than the difference in pellets. I think I will be alright.

My cheapo unchoked Crosman barrels have a very strong preference for a true 4.52mm head size. They shoot great when the head engraves into rifling when pushing the pellet into the barrel. The pellet actually gives a little squeak noise when pushing in the head. My rifles don't like when the head is just riding on top of the lands, even though the skirt is engraving. Your high quality Lothar Walther bbl in the TX-200 would have a choked muzzle and possibly a slightly tighter bore as well. Much more forgiving. Excellent rifles!

Yeah, you are probably right. Two of my main springers are TX200HC and HW97KT. Both liked the 4.52/4.51 JSB Exacts in 8.44gr. They seemed to be very tolerant. So, maybe that is why I can not tell the difference in slight variations in pellet spec’s.
