My Kral mega shoots slugs (21 gr) very well but only above 850 Fps. My top velocity was 880fps. My plan was to open the ports to achieve an increase by 20 to 900 fps

I enlarged all the ports by 1/64 th to 11/64 th. This brought the ports to 78% of the bore. 80 % is what I consider max. I also installed a oring on the valve spring retainer nut which reduced poppet closing force. I drilled 2 new 1/8 holes in the retainer nut to allow more air flow.

I then tested the gun there was absolutely no change in slug velocity. I did though get an increase with pellets. The 16 gr hades increased from 990 fps to 1075 fps.

I am thinking that do to the heavy slug I am getting a leak at the bolt oring, that is more prevalent because the increased dwell time. I will need to do the toilet paper blow buy test.

Have a great.
Robert

Why this fixation with over 900 fps in air guns??
Most shooters and my self in this group found the best tunes usually come in about 870 to 880 with pellets
now if you are shooting slugs I can not help you

The idea is to get slug velocity up close to 950fps or maybe over for better accuracy in slower twist pellet barrels.(I assume)

Abslayer, the whole objective of the tuning is for slugs , but I guess you did not read my first line. The fact that I got no increase in velocity with slugs but I did with pellets is the prime objective of this post. This gun shooting slugs will give me another gun to take with me to the southern US which I can use for varmints. I already have all that I need for hog hunting. My bigmax X .25 sends a 34g pellet above 1000 fps with accuracy to a hog in the quarter size forehead kill zone.https://www.airgunforum.ca/forums/topic90746.html I leave for Texas in a week.

This gun when shooting slugs ( 21 gr) is fantastic. At the range I can get very good groups at 100m even with adverse conditions, which is way above what I can achieve with pellets as energy drop is much greater with the low BC. Once the slugs fall below MV of 850 fps the accuracy is heavily effected. If I can start off with a higher initial velocity this will give me more shots before I reach that 850 threshold. I have 2 cabinets of guns that are optimized for pellets with my latest stormy .25 shooting accurately at low 600 fps
