Hello from Southwestern Ontario. I’m a new member here. I’ve recently retired and have more time for air rifle sport. I had bb and pellet rifles as a kid and have been enjoying shooting again over the last several years.
I’m lucky to have a good 10 metre range in my back yard. Also a little bit of hunting small pests.
I look forward to learning more here and sharing ideas about this sport.
I currently use an HW 95 and AA TX 200, both in 22 cal and 495 fps.
I’m waiting for my PAL which has taken over a year in processing. I am told it is now in the mail…

Welcome to the forum. I have heard "they" are dragging their feet on issuing P.A.L.'s due to waiting for changes in the firearms act(s).
Thus it is taking up to and over a year to issue new licenses, now.

Boy, your in for a treat. Real nice bunch of guys here, I must say. Everyone here is so knowledgeable. They are all pretty hardcore. They certainly enjoy the higher end of the air rifle discipline. I hope airguns bring back fond memories and this forum encourage you to grow in skill, knowledge and fun. I dont know where your from, I'm in niagara, ever come my way, shoot me a personal message as in advance as you can, we will have some fun.

Welcome to the forum!
And, of course, Congrats on the long waiting but incoming PAL~ [emoji38]

The PAL do open a brand new door for you in this sport~ you don't need super high power, but below 500fps is not enough and now you have much wider selection for your next gun or just tune your current nice two into what they should be~

A Vortek PG3 tune kit maybe be a good thing to spend your money on the TX~ ;)

Welcome Budley and Sierraniagara.

Since both of you are in SWO you are close to two of our regular Field Target venues (Hamilton and Port Colborne). Our first shoot of the season is in 4 weeks at Hamilton. It would be great to see you there. Even if you don't want to shoot in the match you can come out and meet everyone and take a look at Field Target.

PM me if you want to talk.

Thank you for the offer, pm me on the dates time cost of the events, sounds pretty interesting. Is there any specific personal protective gear or tactical gear ...we should bring?
Thanks

I will just borrow this thread a little bit longer... I just posted some intro information in the Field Target section. The schedule for all Ontario matches is included in my posting of the Port Colborne 2023 FT schedule. First timers shoot free - after that it is a very reasonable $20 per match.

Simple requirements:
a .177 or .22 pellet rifle (.177 only at Grenville) that shoots under 20 ft lbs
60 lead pellets (you may want few extra for sighting in or the odd fumble!)
safety glasses (or regular glasses with shatterproof lenses)

beyond that, different divisions allow different seats, monopods, bipods, shooting jackets, shooting harnesses, range finders, different scope and gun limits

Check out some of the older postings in the Field Target section and you will see announcements for some previous matches and match reports that give you some additional info - but again - COME ON OUT - IT IS A TON OF FUN.

That's excellent. The last 2 times, it took 5 months for mine, a 12/6 license.
