I used to shoot the old Czech Slavia .177 when I was a kid (ooooh so, so long ago). I'm not even sure it could do 300FPS...

I am now looking for precision target practice just for the fun of it — now that I can afford it

I am totally ignorant in everything airgun so, your indulgence and expertise will very much appreciated

Welcome aboard. The old Slavias were well built, but nowadays there are so many more choices you'll soon be faced with which ones to get next.

different applications. If you see something that intrigues you, mention it here for opinions on
what value it has to whatever vocation you wish to use it in.

Welcome. It depends on what you are looking for. The airgun forum store has some good deals on air rifles, I believe tax is included in their pricing. I bought a break barrel HW30S from them last week. I had it in 3 days. It's a great little gun.
