I've got a bunch of cadet rifles here trying to get shooting for my daughter's cadet group.
The valve isn't sealing or holding air. Valves seem to be hard to come by these days. Anyone have any secrets to getting them to seal. The seals are easy to replace with Buna 116-90D orings avaliable anywhere. They are 3/4" id. 15/16" od. 3/32. But the valves are letting air by.

I can get them from Daisy, I was just wondering if there were any tricks to get one to seal without getting new valves.

If the stem is still good but it's the seat that is damaged, you could make a sanding tool. I use peel and stick autobody sandpaper.

Possibly some debris got into the valve. Clean the valve seat and stem with rubbing alcohol and try again. If the seat looks fine then possibly the stem face is grooved or damaged. I'm not sure if these stem faces are rubber or hard plastic. If they are a hard material then possibly you could spin the stem and gently reface with a fine file or an abrasive to clean up a rough surface. If them stem is the problem, you have nothing to lose by trying to fix it. You might get lucky and get it working again.

The stem face is rubber coated steel. The valve seat is part of the aluminum housing, it has a tiny ridge built in to seal against.
I got 4 out of 7 guns shooting and holding air.
I was talking to daisy today, the seal kit and valve is only $2.50 USD but they are out of stock and unsure when they will have more.

I wonder if a Crosman 760-145 stem could be adapted. They cost $2.44. It might work if you shorten up the metal stem and trimmed down the end plug. Spin on a drill and contour with a file. I used a trimmed 760 stem in a S&W 78G CO2 pistol and it worked fine.

Spare parts ought to be available through the system. Get the CO to ask his G3.
- Or the rifles could just be exchanged and let the weapon tech deal with them.

Some of these were put in for replacement 5 years ago, I don't think they are too high of a priority. Two of those just needed the bolt spring replaced as they were missing.
I was at a different cadet groups marksmanship training last weekend, they were having similar troubles they had a lot of guns that needed work. They can't seem to get any replacements.
They used to have a maintenance program where they could get parts and do a workshop with the cadets to repair the guns. They are no longer allowed to do anything besides replace sights.

Could be different from one region to another, last time we asked for seals (around 2018) we were sent complete pump assembly.
