I placed an order for four tins of pellets, but the shipping cost amounts to $30. Is it just me, or does that seem rather high?

The small "flat rate" box from Canada Post is about $22. That will definitely hold 4 tins of pellets but wouldn't likely protect them very well. I'm thinking some of these shipping prices also have some labor built in

Canada post has probably the highest shipping cost compared to any other country. This is especially true for domestic shipping: it actually costs more to ship some smaller items domestically than to ship them internationally.

As mentioned previously, the flat rate shipping box is the way to go. But that's $22, and you need to go to the post office to pick them up.

You can pick up the flat rate boxes from any postal outlet i.e. Shoppers Drug Mart. Mine come from my local variety store

4 tins from Crosman were $13 to ship 5 tins were free shipping. 5 tins from D&L were $26.90. These were in January 23. $30 is a lot, but is the going rate.

I just paid about $75 to ship 30 tins and a set of scope rings from D&L. The box was about 16lb lol

My order from WesB just arrived today at the door. 4 tins of 150 count 25 cal. 25gr. and 2 tins of .22 cal 500 count Hades 15.89gr arrived in the $22.00 shipping box.

Thanks Wes.

Here's the 'back side' of the box. If it fits in the box and is under 5KG. (11 pounds) it ships for $22.00.
Just weighed them- dang, should have ordered more - just under 5 pounds with box. Should have ordered more - will next time.

Interesting stuff, I assume the only way to get a flat rate box and label is to buy it in-person? I know you can print a label from a business account but I assume that's only useful if you are sending in a non-flat-rate box, ie your own box, like for a rifle.

This is who I ordered from (Airgun & archery fun) with a very similar order as yours. I wonder why I was charged $30 shipping instead of the flat-rate $22 box.

Just a guess, but a $22 box is actually $ 24.86
- it wouldn't be out of place to add a $ or two for the shipping labour

The flat rate box is about $22 after tax. Never had any fuel surcharges added either
