Can't blame me for the Diana. I wasn't the one you bought it from lol. I don't have many airguns but what I have has added up between the rifles, the scopes, some accessories not to mention the pellet stash. I try to buy good quality so I'm not regretting the monies spent afterwards. But it does sneak up on you

I'm blaming you for my current addiction. Lol. I bought the Diana 280 from you. Canada Post hasn't delivered it yet... My TX came from AGS via Canada Post in 3 days. If they don't change the delivery date again it should be here today. It never moved out of Ontario for 7 days.
But that gave me an excuse to buy the HW30S from the airgun forum. It's a beautiful little rifle.
Question, the HW30s, how hard is it to cock? I know it's pal rated but there none are avaliable elsewhere pal rated or not. It's for my son who is 9.

It's not hard to cock. It has the ball for holding the barrel not the chisel tip like the HW50 or Stoeger A20, it doesn't require the sharp smack to break the barrel. I have I believe an X5 and A20 Stoeger. The x5 is similar to the HW30S and I believe the A20 is closer to the HW50. My girlfriend and her 10 year old daughter much prefer the HW30S or X5.
The HW30S with a cheap muzzle loader scope I had here shots nice groups out of the box. This is 5 shots at 10meters. I pulled one. It's sighted in for my girlfriend, she has a different poi than I do. She shot a 95 on a 10m target after only about 50 shots through it. I'm really impressed with it. The service, shipping and price through the air gun forum store can't be beat.

Sorry about that, I bought it from Ron G, not Rob G.

No worries. Had it came earlier I might not have ordered the TX. It's a joy to shoot. If he has trouble cocking it he won't have trouble for long, if he's anything like me at 9 I'd have practiced till I could do it with 2 fingers. The Stoeger A20 is non-pal it's twice as hard to cock as the HW30S.
The A20 is regular priced at $300 + tax at Canadian tire. I'd sell this 2 week old one for $100 now that I bought the HW30S. I'll likely give it to someone as I know it will never get used now.
The price of $325 on the forum store for the HW30S includes the tax as well I believe.

And that would've been a shame. I have not shot the HW30 but I can with confidence say the TX is a better rifle, atleast in terms of accuracy. When I do my part the TX can place 10 out of 10 pellets @ 15m in a ever so slightly enlarging hole. Last time I measured the hole was 1.87 on the most outward edges. Seems like a pcp at times.

That was my TX right out of the box pretty much.
It's just that the HW30S is so much simpler to shoot. Light and nimble.
I got my used diana 280 in the mail today. Seller says it's only fired 75 Pellets and it's tuned with a tight fitting Marconi spring.
I'm curious to see how it compares

My HW97 at 20 yards.
Some pellets are more accurate than others.
As you can see, the 8.44gr. 4.51mm JSB Cometa (green tin) pellets are the most accurate of those tested.

The TX seems to like 4.52 AA or Diablos in 8.4 and 10.3

Once you start shooting at 50 yards, you may see the difference between the 30 and the TX. The AA and JSB 4.52, 8.44s are the pellets most TX shooters use, so what you are finding is what many find. Some like the Cometa of the same size as well. They are all made by JSB anyways, but do give different performance in different rifles. My buddy's TX loves the AA, but mine shows a very obvious preference to the JSB of the very same size.

Forces you to shoot more to find the best, but that is never a bad thing. :D

The Diana and the HW30S both shoot an inch and a half high with the AA Diablo round nose heavy field 10.3 gr. Everything else in them shoots the same height.
With the TX I didn't notice much elevation change with different weights.

I tried the standard JSB Exacts in 4.51mm 8.44 gr. and they did not shoot as well as the 4.51 Cometas. I did try Cometa 4.52 8.44gr. and they shot identically to the
4.51's.
These rifles do shoot fairly well with a variety of pellets, however they do have preferences.

Apparently I still have a problem...
I went to look at a SUIS-10 Hybrid electronic scoring target. I came home with 5 more airguns. I got 2 FWB 700 Juniors, a FWB 700 aluminum, a Tau 7, and a Baikal 46m.
While I was there I had to reseal another Tau 7 for the guy as he wouldn't sell the Baikal if he didn't have a spare working pistol
I will post pictures after I get home.
