I received my TX200 12 ftlb .177 from AGS on Friday. After figuring out a few quirks with the cocking stoke and removing some excess grease to get the safety to engage every time it shoots nice.
Fit and finish is very nice. I opted for the beech stock, I wanted walnut, but thought the extra money would be better put towards my optics. I went with a Hawke10-50x60SF . I had to order an adjustable mount from AGS that I hope will solve my elevation issue.
I'm quite sure this gun is capable of way more accuracy than I am. Most of my shooting so far has been inside in my basement at 10 meters.
Here are a few targets I shot yesterday looking for grouping with different pellets. Once I get a nice day outside to shot 25 and 50 yards I'm sure the groups will open up a lot.
There is a .25 cal pellet in the photo for reference. I can't put them in the same hole but some of the groups aren't bad. Each group is 5 shots, a few have 6.

Nice rifle, so congrats. The beech stock is itself very nice and ultimately it's a sensible choice to put the extra cost into optics. Now you need to get through the break in period and find the pellets it likes and shoot some single hole groups. It is capable of that, even in wobbly hands, so you will get there.
In my earlier days shooting with rifles like the Benjamin Classic and Winchester 500s, I was shooting 5" groups at 30 yds on a good day. I thought this was appalling so I sprung for a HW97K (beech stock, with good hawke optics). I was amazed ... I could pick off acorns at 30 yds every shot! I'm a non-PAL shooter so your distances will be much further, but you can expect one clean hole at 10 yds, and 1/2" groups at 50 yds, bench rested of course. :drinkers:

Most all my shots are at least rested on something, bad shoulders and 5 herniated disc's in my back. I don't do a lot thats unassisted. With 6 or 700 pellets through it I'm thinking it should be settled in and through the break in by now.

I would have bought a HW97 over the TX if there were any available in .177

Some excellent groups. With a pellet it likes, you can even be a bit sloppy and they'll magically drop in there.
With pellets it doesn't particularly like, any little slip-up and they open the group up.
Groups with the rifle are excellent, as are some in the top target. These rifles just shoot well & as we've found on our
indoor range, out to 20yards, maybe 30, they'll match a GOOD PCP rifle.

So true. And its a big relief to see someone else say this because for a while there I thought I had a magical ProSport. Like Duke, I was used to a Benji Classic and some other .... umm... "less-than-optimal" rifles until a couple of years ago, so when I bought a Prosport it was like the clouds parted and a heavenly choir began to sing as a shaft of brilliant light shone down on the rifle. I found myself asking "how the Hell does it know where the 10 ring is??". Lol. There is simply no comparing the top springers with others. Weirauchs are also outstanding... never met one I didn't love unconditionally.

Nice groups! And they will get even better. Good choice, and congrats on a beautiful rifle, I hope you two will be very happy together!

Thank you. It shoots very well. Me on the other hand....
It's just more work to shoot it compared to a break barrel. I find it hard to get the pellets in the barrel.

[emoji38] because you have an over killed scope?! ;)

That's actually an known ' issue ' for the fixed barrel springers - you couldn't use big scopes on them as the scope sometimes would bring you some troubles on loading as it's locking the loading port...

You may need a higher mounts or mount the scope a little forward or use an even bigger (or say longer scope).... Any ways, find your way to make a bit more room around the loading port to make the loading a little bit easier...

Actually similar things on PCPs when using mags... I ended up with the nice 3D printed single shot tray from ineedpal on my CZ200 jist because with that I can use the low profile mount for the scope.

It's not that the scope is in the way, my fingers are. It's hard to get my fay fingers in that little hole and start the pellets in the barrel. Round nose pellets aren't too bad but I've been using wadcutters punching paper.

It's the main reason I gave up on .177, my fingers just don't want to handle those tiny pellets, and trying to get them into a fixed barrel breach was just too frustrating for me.

Thats the plan once we get a sunny day and no wind, on the bay of fundy in March and April those days are few and far between. I want to try my Hatsan .25 as well.

Having the breech covered with the scope is a nasty thin on these underlevers. That is why I went with the "compact" scopes I did, for my 97's.

Yeah... In my cases, I don't like the smaller field of view and the thicker 'black circle' on the sight picture, I prefer a non compact but smaller size / power scopes. Like the 40mm amd 42mm on my PS and 97.

However for my FWB300, I have to use a set of higher profile rings as I do like that fixed power 10x44mm scope very much and it works very well on the FWB300 too~ see below for a B4 and after comparison... ImageImage

These have quite large field of view. don't know what you are referring to, with the large "black circle'.
Mine, 30mm tube and 44 mm 0bjective lens do not have either small field of view or large black circle.
These are even shorter & have an immense field of view.
I have the 10x40 on my Condor. Love it on that rifle.
