Well, I'm back shooting. Haven't taken the pictures of my toys yet, but will soon. In the meantime, all guns are operational, holding air and shooting well now thanks to Daryl's skills and a little practice. I can now hold 3/8 - 1/2 inch groups (seated - bum knees) with a scoped gun at 10 yards about half the time I shoot. Movin' up!

Now for the next step and I want some advice here. Daryl and I have been great friends for some 20 years now, but I need to go through another learning curve so I can make minor repairs and replace seals and so forth without banging on the poor guy's door all the time. Even though he doesn't seem to mind.

I've decided to buy an el cheapo pistol (thinking of the Crossman 2240 or using my spare Crosman 1322), buying the appropriate tools, and modding it to the hilt. I'm inclined to buy the 2240 because it's CO2 based, I don't own one, and it's as cheap as it gets for something that shoots fairly decently (had one many years ago). And lots of parts are readily available.

I'm not mechanically minded, but willing to learn. Please chip in with suggestions, by all means. Daryl thinks it's a good idea but he's into upper end guns  which I lust after but can't afford. I've never modded or done anything of this sort before, and I know some of you have.

Tool selection, parts selection . . . let me know what would be the way to go. Just before the edit I looked at stock and almost everything is out of stock, so I snagged a 2240 from D&L. So, now to parts and tools, eh?

Thanks!

As noted to you, a good set of Wheeler Screwdriver + bits. Seems to me, Princess Auto has them in several different configurations, down to the small one I showed you.
A couple sets of the extended handle Allen Wrenches is also necessary, for me. Metric and Standard.
While there spending all your hard earned $$ - a couple sets of the O rings, but I would check the Hydraulic shops first, for O ring "kits".
I need to do that as well.

I go to our local hydraulics supplier, hand them a handwritten list of the sizes and type of material for the o-rings I need. A few minutes later I have a little bag in my hand with the o-rings I needed and a bill for about $5. I think I bought four sets of o-rings for rebuilding my pumpers for that $5.
