The Cuda Light weighs 9.57 grains. Anyone try them in a springer? Accurate? H&N web site says they are good with 12fpe and up.

I just read that H&N just came out with the Baracuda-8 which is an 8.44gr version. Based on JSB Exact. I don't think they have made it to Canada yet.

It would be interesting to spend an afternoon shooting at 50 yards and comparing the .177cal Cuda LT, FTT and Cuba-8. They are completely different in appearance. The FTT has a larger head and shorter skirt with less of an angle between back of head and skirt. The Cuda-8 has a shallow dome head while the Cuda Lt is a semi-point.

I checked out Cibles and he is not showing them on his list. Some of the Brits have been talking about the Baracuda 8, but nothing definitive.

Going to ask a buddy who lives in Gatineau, a short distance from the store, to check it out.

Yeah, I could like to check out this Cuda-8 too!

It's interesting (or say strange), all my guns don't like the H&N pellets except the Finale wadcutter. The Baracudas, FTTs are all famous about the quality and the accuracy, just my guns not like them...

Got the better result about the Baracuda Light, but still not as good and can compare to my other pellets. But the tins I gave to my buddy and it looks instantly became the best feed to his rifle...

Thinking my guns are not as powerful to use these heavy pellets because I like a little lowered output to fix my basement range needs...

So I really want to keep testing the H&N on this 8.44g new product~

I had some communication with eBay Nick today. He said the new Cuda-8 is not yet on their order form but they do plan on stocking them (no ETA yet).

I have shot the Field Target Trophy pellets in my HW80 (Iron sights) and HW97, both .177's & at 10 yards only. They shoot OK, but are not as accurate as the green tin
JSB Cometa Select Target 8.44gr, in either rifle. The H&H's are close in the HW97 to the cometa pellets but not quite. With the Cometa, I can made a hole with 5 shots,
in regular target material, that will not allow a .177 pellet to drop through. The H&N's make a similar 'looking' hole for 5 shots, but will not hold a pellet - so- the Cometa wins.
With the HW80, the groups with Cometa pellets are slightly smaller, maybe by 1/10". The Cometa pellets made more single hole groups with that rifle, than the H&N's are able
to produce.
Both of these rifles are firearms.
The H&N Barracuda 8 looks like a Hades design without the Phillips Screwdriver impression.

The 8 looks very much like a JSB or AA 8.44. Even the weight is the same. Looking forward to giving them a try.

My buddy talked with Nick and got the same info. He said he would put them on the order as soon as they were available.

The .177cal H&N FTT shoots quite well from my cheapo Crosman Optimus (tuned to 740fps) and Phantom (tuned to 840fps). I've had many sub-1" groups at 50 yards with both these rifles when using the big headed FTT pellet. See 10m target pics below.

The new H&N Baracuda-8 is the same weight as the 8.44gr JSB Exact. Maybe that isn't a coincidence. There definitely seems to be some similarity between the Cuda-8 and the JSB designs. I'm looking forward to trying them to see if my rifles like them as much (or more) than the FTT.

https://www.hn-sport.de/en/air-gun-hunt ... cuda-8-177

I first started shooting JSB pellets back in 2000 when Illingworth Imports and McDougall Imports were the dealers in Canada. Back then the Exact was in a white tin with red lettering and I think only available in the 8.44gr weight. I remember paying $5.80 a tin back then. I had over 30 tins of old Exact and about the same with the green tin Match WC version. I still have one almost full tin that I keep for testing on perfect shooting days.

I was once a huge fan of the 8.44gr JSB Exact. Then I ordered a bunch of tins in 2017 and 2018 and received undersized pellets. The 4.52mm were measuring 4.45mm to 4.48mm. They wouldn't shoot well in any of my rifles so I gave up on JSB Exact and turned to the H&N FTT. No complaints with the 4.52mm FTT head size. The new Cuda-8 looks interesting.

The quality control for the JSB 8.44 in recent years has many scrambling for alternatives. My TX200HC really likes the QYS domes 8.48 gr. They shoot almost identical to the older JSB 8.44 pellets that I am running short on. Getting the QYS in Canada is not easy though.

The Brits are able to get the Baracuda 8, so I imagine it will not be too long before Nick can get them. Fingers crossed for availability and function.

eBay Nick just got the new Baracuda-8 in stock. Price is $15.00 per tin of 500. Only 35 tins left.

I ran into the same problem and have been shooting H&N since, although I have not had the same problem with AA pellets.

Both my TX200 HC & my Diana 430L group the Baracuda FT very well and this has become my go to pellet. When I chronyed the TX with this pellet I was getting 803 fps, E\S 7.83 & S\D 2.43. Results with the Diana were 680 fps, E\S 9.05 & S\D 2.82.

I have tried a couple of tins of Baracuda Light from Nick (the price is great) and they appear to be the same the as BFT. However I suspect from the price that they are old stock as sizes were not as consistent as new tins of H%N pellets.

Nick advised me on Thursday that his shipment of Baracuda 8 had arrived and I picked up a supply of them yesterday (I'm lucky - no shipping costs) and some FTT as I want to see if my Diana 430L will group one of them as well as the BFT but with a little more speed due to reduced weight.

Lots of work/fun testing them all - LOL!.

Good shooting everyone.

Bill

Hey Bill... I'm looking forward to reading your accuracy comparison between the BFT, FTT and the new B-8 pellets. I hope the B-8 turns out to be a great pellet.

I will post results in due course, but it may take me a while - too many things to do & too little time - LOL!

As per my usual practice, I immediately measured 10 pellets from each of the new tins to confirm pellet size with the following results: -

FTT 8.64-4.52 - 3 tins-10% @4.52 & 90% @ 4.53, 1 tin-20% @ 4.52 & 80% @ 4.53, & 1 tin-100% @ 4.53

Baracuda 8 - 8.44-4.51 (only size available) - 3 tins-10% @ 4.51 & 90% @ 4.52, 1 tin-20% @ 4.51 & 80% 4.52, 1 tin-30% 4.51 & 70% 4.52.

I do not consider my results to be scientific, but they do meet my needs and show me that H&N is continuing their consistency which is what I am looking for. I particularly like the above FTT results for my Diana 430L as it prefers 4.52 & 4.53 - 4.51 will fall out of breech. I hope H&N will bring out a Baracuda 8 8.44-4,52.

I will now have to find some time to crony these pellets and do some group testing.

Bill

I have bought five tins of the Baracuda 8, but do not have them in hand yet. Looking forward to trying them out. I have never had a H&N pellet group well for me, but I hope this is the exception.

Looks the measuring result is very positive, consistent and just one tiny size up maybe a good thing as it will fit better in the barrel?!

Yeah, don't know why H&N pellets usually not the best one for my guns either, they looks very good quality and very consistent tho... M

However I got more than enough pellet inventory for my shooting and guns now, really do want to try that too... But maybe later could be better for my needs...
