Hi everyone I’m new to the forum and to air guns in general. I have recently stumbled across my father-in-laws old Daisy 880 from when he was a kid. It’s the old style 880 with the brass pump tube. I wanted to get it working again so the next time he visits I could give it to him. I’ve taken it apart and replaced all the seals, wiper and exhaust valve as they were all bad. I was having an issue with the rifle pumping until I realized the brass tube had a hairline crack in it, I’ve soldered it and it’s building pressure. The problem I’m running into now is that it wont hold the air. If I pump it 10 times and shoot right away it’s pretty decent, but if I wait more than 5 seconds it seems like its almost out of air. Anyone know what the problem could be? I’m thinking about taking it apart again and ordering a new brass tube, but I really don’t want to take it apart again. Thanks I’m advance.

Welcome aboard.
For nostalgia purposes you must take it apart and fix that leak. probably some schmutz in the valve.
If no one here has specific advice, Google will turn up some leads, such as this one that suggests alcohol may make things better. i have always found alcohol makes things better, at first anyhow. it's worth a try. And then send some Pelgun oil or a substitute in there. (Use WD 30 straight weight non detergent motor oil or some automatic transmission fluid).

Oh forgot the link: https://www.daisy880.net/?topic=old-880 ... -installed

I find this too. I have not tried it on guns.

Welcome to our group therapy, Crimson. :D

A few light taps on the new valve may help it seat
