I would like to reduce the inner diameter of a transfer port I have. Would solder hold, if I were to plug the TP then drill it out to a smaller diameter? I thought about JB Weld, but I am not so sure that it would last.
Thanks

I think drilling out a TP is easier than filling one in. Have you thought about making a new one with smaller hole? What gun and what sizes are you talking about?

Yes, I suppose making a new one from refrigerator tubing might work, but this TP is from a GMAC multishot breech, and is a fair bit taller than the normal 2240 TP. I am not sure that the synthetic tubing would hold up, whereas solder within a brass TP would be supported. The GMAC TP is 0.150, I did not realize that they were larger than standard, and I want to make it smaller so the breech is useable here. I realize I am venturing into thin ice territory, but I' really like to get this fixed.

since it's brass, then with the right solder you will be able to fill it and drill out to suit. let us know how it works.

I used acid core solder to fill the TP, then drilled it out under size, and massaged till I got an opening of 0.144 inch. It shoots well, and holds around 440-470 with the alloy silver points, so it was a success. The acid core solder flowed beautifully in the brass TP. Just a bit of clean up.
Cheer, JD

I have used small washers to do this , as it is easily reversible and size agile .
