Dear Forum Members,

I am planning on moving back to Canada in Summer from Germany. Here I have bought an AEA HPMAX (F-Version) which has been throttled to fit the German restrictions for people without a firearm license. It is very precise and I love shooting it. I would love bringing it to Alberta but I don't want to compromise any Canadian laws. Therefore I would love to hear your opinions and thoughts you might have about my plans.

The firepower of the airgun has been measured by GoGun (where I have bought it) before it was delivered to me: 5,8J 5,8J 4,9J, and speeds were far below 152.4 m/s which should in theory be ok with Canadian regulations.
However, a quick online search didn't reveal any hits on purchasing the AEA HPMAX in Canada, which made me wonder if these kinds of airguns might not be legal in the dominion.

I would love to hear your thoughts.
Kind regards,
Jan.

Looks this is a nice gun!

However I didn't notice it in Canada so far... As I checked the GoGun you mentioned, and you can buy from them and they can ship to Canada (you need to pay by US dollars tho). Maybe just nobody import this brand into Canada, yet...

And I also did some converting on the numbers you provided to what we got used to as below...

Your AEA HP Max is a 9mm model. That's a .35 caliber. Usually you got slug or pellet weight around 80g. And your rifle had been detuned A LOT to just below 6J (4.5fpe)... That means your gun just shooting at about 150 or less fps?? The model in GoGun website is shooting at 150fpe (900fps at 79g weight)...

I am thinking maybe you can check with GoGun again and see if they have any info your reference as they can ship to Canada and you bought the gun from them..

And anyone knows how to import a 'new' model of airgun into Canada could also chime in to provide some helps~

According to Jorg on the Slingshot Channel, the German Regs are under 5 fpe for none firearm owners.
If this level of power is provable for that rifle without having to chronograph it, AND it does not have a silencer or sound suppressor,
you should be able to bring it in "stored" luggage. However - you must contact the Canadian Firearms Centre for information relevant to your intentions.

Thank you YepYep and Daryl for the replies!
Yes it is a very nice gun. Even in the throttled version it is a lot of fun. I am shooting regular pellets, I guess slugs wouldn't work at this low energy.

Thank you very much for the link to the Canadian Firearm Center!! I will check that out.

Thank you very much for your answers, that has helped me a lot!

If you are moving back to Canada, are you a Canadian citizen? If so, as a Canadian, you should be able to bring a non-pal rifle in checked luggage. Just make sure there are no pellets with it or compressed air. You will probably have to check it in a separate place from your regular luggage, but that should not be a problem. I took PAL level guns back and forth from England with no issues, so I assume non-pal would be even more routine.

Hi Mac. Thank you for your reply! I am a dual Citizen German & Canadian. Ok that is good news. I will make sure that there is no pressurized air in the gun any more and I won't have pellets with me.
Thank you and have a nice day!

If the gun is not clearly marked as a sub 500. I would not bring it with out a PAL. I have passed through customs many times with both guns and ammo and with the PAL it is just a couple additional questions. My neighbours son who brings back his airsoft gun from tournaments takes hours.
