I made a photo myself with a cellphone and followed the guidelines -> how the actor shall look like.
I started the renewal online (uploaded the non-edited image) in mid Nov.2022 and got the RPAL/PAL card in a mail in mid Feb.2023 about two weeks late my birthday.
The new card looks cool fancy btw ...

To your original question of “do you need to do a transfer?”… As a firearms owner the answer comes down to if the airgun is considered a restricted or non-restricted firearm.

If they are considered restricted “firearms” they are registered in your friend’s name and would need to be transferred into your name. There is a process for that I can explain in more detail if you really like.

If they are considered “non-restricted firearms” like the high powered air rifles, all the two of you need to do to be aboveboard, is do a PAL verification check. You can either call in to the CFO line, or you can do it online (so much faster and easier, and can be done anytime of the day). As of my posting this, the only info in a transaction the transferee (your friend) will need along with his information is….

Your Name
First 8 digits of the card
Date of birth
Email on file

They will not ask online for serial numbers, make, model, or caliber. They just want to make sure the two of you are being responsible firearms owners.

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions if you like. I’m new to the airgun and airsoft world, but for the other firearms and the process I’ve got some experience.

Thanks for your comment--and it does matches some info I got before for high power air rifles--they are much easier for transfer and RCMP not registering them on file.

Being able to confirm a PAL online is great!.... If you have a link to the RCMP web page to do that, PLEASE post it so we can all bookmark it!....
