I have never had a powder burner or springer with the accuracy and repeatability of the PCP.
I would challenge ANY powder burner to match the accuracy of my fwb800 20 yards or less in a controlled environment (indoor). Some of the bench setups might be able to match but they have to work hard for it. Outdoors at 100 yards? Even an economy 17 hrm is going to embarress most high end pcps. Apples to oranges.

ya pcps are insanley accurate my hw110 hits golf balls at 100 yards easily same wit my .25 anything under 50 yards is easy target

just saying tho i know they have the giant crank lever springers but they should make them like the pcps without the air and with lever action on them.

 Then they are not springers any more...
Springer is also fun, while you know how to actually compensate and control it.

Or - get a higher end HW springer that is not sensitive to hold, like the HW97's.
My HW97 in .177 has shot 5-shot groups at 20yards rest, on regular 10mm targets, that will not allow a .177 pellet to fall through the hole.

Yeah... To my own experience, I want to say the HW97 is really a best all-round air rifle.

Actually these a few days, I want to open a new topic to talk about 'the best air rifle'... It might be a bit heavy as actually it will be talking the bad experiences on air rifles and looks too much to mention so didn't start yet... But in my mind, the HW97 is the best one. Before I having mine, heard a lot how good it is already. And when I got mine, everything got proved to be true~

However, just my own experience and there are too many out there I didn't have a chance to touch yet~

Yeah~ I will mention the PS in the post if I made it too, of course~

I couldn't say the PS is not good. However I would more tend to say the PS is more fancier... Not better than the HW97...

When I servicing mine, I actually found lot of things shouldn't showed up on such an expensive high end famous springer air rifle... Like the cocking lever couldn't align straight (I know how it works, But couldn't fix it except I change the whole underneath part and not sure if the replacement could have the same issue or not)... Deep scratch marks on the sears... If put aside for some time, the first time you release the lever, you can hear strange noise from the bear-trap... These things won't affect accuracy, if you are not OCD maybe you won't notice at all... But once you found it, you saw it... You just remember them in your life... So the PS is not a 5 Stars gun in my mind... Maybe 4.8?!

And I didn't see anything wrong on my 97~ especially when I refinished the stock, it looks a lot fancy then and no more boring like before on the stock dumb beech stock... :)

Love my PS and it will be the keeper too~ ImageImage

That AA's walnut stock is plain, but A-OK.

Forgot to mention the HW97 is not expensive at all. It's actually cheap to own and cheap to shoot... Even my 2240 is more expensive than the 97, don't mention that FX M3 either...

So compare to its performance and German quality, I couldn't find a reason not giving the BEST title to the HW97...

Walnut is still better than beech not matter if you compare a plain one to a finished one~ :)

And easy to apply oil on it to make it A LOT better~

The PS walnut stock is 5 Stars. The AA bluing is 5 Stars. The AA springer trigger is 5 Stars too...

what is the benefit over CO2? As a rookie, the guns seem more expensive, many requiring PAL, you need to have an air source so an expensive compressor?
Just trying to see what it is that I'm missing.....

Benefits of PCP over CO2 are:
1) CO2 pressure can quickly vary depending on atmosphere temperatures, air not as much
2) shot count, PCP are higher pressure and most the time have larger tanks ( more volume)
3) if regulated, PCP can get more consistent velocities
4) PCP can be hand pumped
5) PCP can be left pressurized for years, where most CO2 will leave a memory in the sealing gasket causing leaks

There’s probably a few more that I’m missing but that’s the basics. I shoot both myself but my passion is in regulated PCP’s.

I think the most advantage of a PCP over co2 (and other power plants for air guns) is power.

Unbeatable and un reachable power.

That's why most of them are PAL rated, especially those high end and expensive ones...
