HAHA match report May 27, 2023
By Rob Wright, Acting Match Director
Thank You to everyone who participated, and those who helped with setup and teardown.
Thanks to our Course Marshals for this match: Marc Shelleau and Geoff MacGregor.
Also, thanks to our house photographer and statistician Tom.
We had a smaller field this time with 15 shooters since a number of our regulars were not able to attend. It was great to see 3 first time FT shooters and a number of the experienced folks stepped up to give them a great introduction to Field Target.
It was a great day for a match – bright sun, but not too hot, surprisingly little wind for HAHA (although it picked up a bit toward the end of the match to ensure that everyone had an excuse for a few of those shots that got away.)
There were a number of targets with reducers to make sure that the course was not too easy and 8 targets were out past 40 yards. There were still some impressive results and the top position in every class had the winner squeaking out the win by only 1 or 2 points.
The three first timers did great – a special shout out to Nathan who was shooting an off the shelf sub-500 rifle with open sights! All you others who are reading this but have not yet come out to a match and have been thinking that you do not have a tricked out enough gun – come on out with what you have and see how much fun Field Target is.
Complete results are in the table below.

Remember that there is a match in Port Colborne June 10, then back in Hamilton June 24. For those a little farther east – there are also great matches in Grenville every month.
